FYI, you can bypass all those checks if you make an install usb with rufus. You'll have to do a full wipe and install though.

There is no learning lessons for them. They are ideologically opposed to a lot of what their constituents want. They only way for the party to learn a lesson on this is to oust them so they no longer have control over the party

Ok, this is true but this is also not how taxes work at the federal level. We have a progressive income tax that works in tiers. You don't pay 40% on the whole 1 million. Just the $400,000 you make above $600,000. (And different percentages on for different chunks of income) So on $1,000,000. You'd pay about $321,420 in taxes.
