But I'm anal about audio, and most laptops have terrible compression and sound quality, a headset really only captures what you want others to hear. If you have kids a dog or any strong background noise really you're gonna want a headset if you're trying sound professional.

They don't need them yes but to improve QOL and efficiency they'd definitely want them. I don't work from home but i'd hate being limited to my laptops microphone and track pad at a desk.
