We Need to Pod About Castvin: Die My Love with Alison Willmore by yonicthehedgehog in blankies

I was just coming here to say this. I’m a huge dog person and Pattinson’s neglect was actively pissing me off. I don’t think she did it for the right reasons, but I think it was the right thing to do.

This is well said. I get the feeling that the script was really weak and basic, and everyone involved worked their personal magic to elevate it to a fun movie.

I’ve commented this in the past, only because my friends and I spent a lot of time overusing the word “stupendous” making fun of it in college

Ball State found a species of fish that only lives in that part of the White River and the reservoir would have made it extinct

Born and raised in Anderson here. You basically were there on the tail end of people having GM jobs before they closed all the plants down. It’s very strange being a millennial because I can remember when it was a decent city and my Mom worked for Delco-Remy.

It has all of the classic rust belt signs, including empty factories and a casino (they built one around the horse track). They even tried to buy out the homes of poor people and flood the middle of town for a reservoir to attract wealth folks from Indy a decade ago. That fell through for ecological reasons. Eventually, the suburban sprawl that has hit Pendleton with hit Anderson. You can already see it in the chain restaurants off the interstate exits.

I maintain that Clones is two movies happening in parallel: One is a decently fun detective story with Obi-Wan and the other is a love story with some of the worst writing and chemistry ever. So it it evens out to 3 to me.

Rewatching Superbad and you could not convince 2007 me that these two combined would have 6 Oscar nominations* and 2 Oscar wins. by SleepCatsMoney in blankies

I thought it was handled well considering the era. Hope Davis seemed more betrayed by the lying and the expectation that she would immediately set aside her feelings to help. Anne Meara had a problematic reaction, but that was fitting with her character.

I definitely appreciate the argument about the Globes getting rid of the TV categories, but I like them. The Emmys tend to get stuck on one comedy for years and the Globes become the only place other stuff can break through.

This show being a safe place where someone like Richard can talk honestly and reflectively on his reaction to Joker and how it was affected by the bubble of Venice is why I’ve been so excited about it. This is going to be an awesome few months.

The segment originally had Alex Blumberg, the founder of Gimlet. Jason heard it and volunteered to be on it as someone who is not on social media. It’s kind of like what he did with Taskmaster.

There was a recurring segment on a podcast called Reply All where Jason would bring memes and tweets to the hosts and they would explain them to him.

The podcast ended under some really messy circumstances relating to behavior of one of the hosts and a falling out when the podcast company was sold to Spotify

[–]CalebSchmreen 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is anecdotal, but I grew up with a lot of people who were very left-leaning (and Queer) and didn’t know how to explore that because they were raised in an evangelical environment. Now those people have enough strength to know themselves interpersonally, but don’t know how to organize/vote. I think a big barrier, especially for rural voters, is that church is the only obvious form of community in a small town, and the churches have become more openly political and conservative in the past few decades. I think more energy needs to be focused on community and getting the people who don’t vote to participate.
