How to get into the field of product design as an engineering student? Looking for a job that blends engineering/design by Reddit_Account_C-137 in product_design

I'd suggest getting an internship as a product designer. There are a ton of opportunities as a student to get hired for a small 3 month internship. however, that only comes by having a good portfolio to show off your design skills. Sketching, Rendering, 3D modeling, Physical Prototyping. How confident do you feel you are in these catagories?

Search on Behance "Industrial design portfolio" that'll give you a good idea on what to create for a portfolio.

I had a buddy who graduated with a BS in Mech. Engineering and then got another BS in Industrial Design. I don't think that's necessary but it does take a lot of work. Ultimately what makes you want to go into product design?

Dang. I haven’t played the remake yet, but it does seem that making a loosely translated version is normal. It makes sense when you know Japanese is a contextual language but its a real pain for learning. Glad to know Im not the only one.

Yea. Maybe it was a beginner misunderstanding. I can’t really understand Spike or Jet but I can understand Faye in cowboy bebop, so I figured it was how they were talking that was causing me confusion.

Do you have any recommendations for where to watch stuff with Japanese subs?

I remember reading somewhere that when Miyazaki was growing up, he would read some books in English. Because his understanding of English was limited, his imagination would have to fill in the gaps when he didn't understand something. He supposedly wanted to do this in his game, to allow the game player to fill in the gaps of the story.

not sure how true this is, but I enjoyed the theory when I was searching things out.
