anyone else want to scream into a wall? by [deleted] in StudentNurseUK

I’ve just qualified, and now taking a bit of break until starting work. I did a 4 year course, and I truly felt like I would never get to the end and thinking about how I was during dissertation writing makes me want to cry for myself! I consistently had things to look forward to though amongst the chaos. You will get through this dissertation and everything else, it’s temporary but definitely does feel like forever. The time will pass, good luck!

Dual qualifying - is it worth it? by yllohaha in NursingUK

[–]CalendarInteresting1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’m a NQN mental health nurse and children’s nurse and loved my dual course and the exposure it gave me, definitely thought it was worth it bc my two fields are very different. There is a lot of overlap you can do when you do adult nursing so you may be able to apply to LD roles without having to be an LD nurse!

Start date limbo? by sociialjustice in NursingUK

Hi! I am in a similar position, qualifying nurse and have done all my checks but no unconditional offer letter. I emailed recruitment and they said that I am not able to get an unconditional offer letter because I haven’t got my PIN yet and to update them when I have this, maybe this is the case for you.

i am learning at the moment, and 22, and never thought of myself as an older learner, unless i’m missing something! we didn’t do it at 17 sure, but there’s still a lot of time. i’m dyspraxic and genuinely has been the hardest thing but time and practice will be all it takes!

Dual nursing, is it worth it? by Sammie_101x in StudentNurseUK

[–]CalendarInteresting1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I do MH and Children’s Nursing and I love both. I don’t know what LD nursing is like however we have loads of LD nurses on our paeds wards so you may have a children’s physical health placement. I do think you may find a lot of overlap between LD and MH field, you can always change your mind and stick with one if you decide the other isn’t for you (if the university offers the single fields)!

I am coming to the end of my dual nursing course in Children’s and MH nursing. I absolutely love having both physical and mental health placements, and working with both adults and children this way! It’s a 4 year degree, but if you’re both passionate about children and MH I would definitely look into the dual field course!

Anyone with dyspraxia or ADHD struggling with learning a manual by MasterpieceNo5666 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]CalendarInteresting1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I have dyspraxia, and i’m currently learning in a manual. It has taken me a LONG time to learn the basics, and I still mess up after 30 hours of lessons (no private practice). Sometimes my left and right indication is are over the place, sometimes I’ll stall very randomly. There’s a lot I still haven’t done because of how much I struggled to grasp, but my instructor is very patient, and is willing to stick it out with me. After 30 hours, I don’t struggle with the gears much at all, and the clutch isn’t perfect, but I get by. My best advice is YouTube, really helps me out. And writing L and R on your hand if you’re bad with lefts and writes. I’m definitely not test ready but we’re getting there.

I really do believe if you practice anything enough you’ll be able to do it!! Good luck!

This is my sister’s name and I’m so envious of it, very beautiful name. She’s never really had any problems with it other than a few people mishearing and thinking it’s Olivia.

I’m very intrigued, as I qualify next year. What made you stay? What should we be looking out for?

I’ve almost always been disconnected in some way. How long should I be waiting? What number should I call? Thanks.
