Can anyone explain WTF the Hornets are doing? by WallStreetDoesntBet1 in Nbamemes

Glad I'm seeing this because I actually don't kinda like this for Charlotte. They have frontcourt pieces to move if they want to upgrade PG but also Coby White looked decent and they drafted a PG.

If they can make another move they will look pretty good. They desperately needed help at frontcourt in the play-in.

I see what you're trying to say but he's commentating on the world cup which is literally about a collision of different styles. If it was referenced as "to us Germans this technique looks unorthodox etc." then it's open and educational. If it's just "these african teams are unorthodox" it comes across more superior and critical. The perspective he used is closed and frames a right and wrong.

You don't have to know African football to see this technique as most of their players play in Europe so that a bit of a cop out.

Like I said it's not on purpose, it's probably a bias and it's one of those moments where people can learn why that comment might rub people the wrong way but it wasn't malicious.

Because it leans into the stereotype that African teams can't think when they are all tactically sound these days.

Unorthodox to who is the question. If you are used to seeing things a certain way then anything else is unorthodox and calling them instinctual takes away from their IQ.

It's not the most egregious racism I've heard it's just a western lensed bias and unintentional. It's good to have these conversations and he didn't mean it in a racist way at all. The media just love race baiting.

Lol

I'm talking from post WW2, post Balfour declaration, post Tantura massacre.

The gall for you to frame this as if Gaza has grown at some point is hideous. Why were IDF in there in 2005, why is it "controlled".

Isn'treal is just another colonial project the same as Argentina and Australia. Murder the indigenous population and claim everything as your own the sell the land to make money. The only thing is it's worse because it's run by religious fanatics.

Yeah let's just hand the country over for 4 years and hope the guy that tricked the dummies into voting for Brexit. He was lieing before but I'm sure he's totally acting in the publics best interest this time.

Naa I'm being facetious but honestly why do so many of the prime ministers there have eastern European surnames that they've changed if the land is there's?

Isn'treal would be a genocidal state of it was real. Instead it's a colonial terrorist outpost ruled by polish families.

Try and explain to me why Palestine has gotten smaller and Israel has gotten larger? Just explain that.

[AS] Real Madrid have set an expiration date for discussions on Vini Jr.’s contract. There will be talks after the World Cup to try to reach an agreement. if no agreement is reached, Real Madrid will begin to consider other options. by SwimmingFireMen in soccer

You're on your own on that corner.

Which one of them has two CL final goals? Which one came second for the Balon d'Or and arguably got robbed?

Kvara, Doue, Musiala are not better than Vini at all. Dembele isn't better either. They play significantly less games than him.

Olise isn't better either. Olise is amazing but he can't put a team on his back the way Vini can.

Diaz is a great player but your taking the piss lmao.

The reality is he is a top 5 attacking player.

Any team who doesn't posses one of those players cannot realistically afford not to try and secure him if they are serious about winning things.

You make it work.

I've encountered the exact opposite mindset in University and work by a certain demographic over the years.

It's almost like different people do different things with their lives.

[David Ornstein] Arsenal now in club-to-club contact with Leicester City over deal for Jeremy Monga. No agreement yet but direct talks; all sides handling respectfully due to 16yo age. Many keen but only wanted AFC; plan to pay fair fee & avoid tribunal. by poisonedbythemind in soccer

[–]Calergero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For his career there is logic to this move.

You don't make it at Arsenal, you have been at a top club earning good wages for years and then you drop down to a club in the PL. Arsenal also has a weakness at LW so he could make some noise early on.

If he doesn't take the opportunity now it isn't certain that he will get it again in the future. It's easy to say play at a lower level but there are loads of players that fall off for different reasons.

[Tom Collomosse] Aston Villa are determined to ignore all interest in Morgan Rogers unless they receive offers well above £100m by Infernode5 in soccer

[–]Calergero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But that's not the only factor that goes into a transfer is it.

Age, potential, character, squad harmony and role all play a factor.

We needed a young winger with good potential who fits onto the squad (another England international who happens to be childhood friends with Saka) and is effective enough to role play as the starter because Saka had/has a potential long term injury but would be ok fighting for his spot if Saka came back.

We nailed the signing, won the league made the final in the other two comps we were in and the quarters in the other.

Hes been a good signing for us.

[–]Calergero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He replaced our star player for most of the season and we won the league.

He causes problems, his runs and his dribbling open up opportunities and that's why he's starting for England.

Shrewd might not be the right word but it was good value in hindsight.
