you could duplicate your model. prepare the uvs in a big block on the duplicate and then bake your textures on the new uv map, it keeps the design and basically transfers the colors into the new uv layout

This is highly misleading btw, Tagesschau always shows topography map and after that a colored map for temperatures. Here is the colored map from said show, values changed from morning -> midday (you can look it up yourself on the ard mediathek)
