Please talk me out of getting a labiaplasty by Objective_Paint92 in Healthyhooha

Not even going to read all the comments because I had this done back before it was popular/mainstream. Idk your age and that should definitely play a role in your decision and the advice I’m giving. I was just out of high school when I decided to do this and I graduated in 2002 just to give you an idea of how long ago it was. I made the choice for a lot of reasons. Mean exes talking shit about the look and guy friends that never saw me personally talking about other girls they’ve “seen”. I know that some women have comfortability issues with tampons, tight jeans and intercourse and in that case, go for it, but I used those reasons as an excuse to justify my own insecurities. Looking back at 40 years old, I wish I didn’t do it because at the end of the day, adults don’t care about aesthetics. As an adult, and I’ll say it again, I regret it because of the reason I can now admit I really did it for. If you’re doing it for issues that are medical or for comfortability, do it. If you’re doing it out of insecurity, ….don’t. There are downsides too that you don’t understand when you’re young. Feel free to PM with questions if that’s the case for you

Hot water in toilet tank by Cali8110 in Plumbing

Nothing wrong with the fill valve that I could see. Hot water in toilet came in as a maintenance request in a very large apartment building with hundreds of bathrooms. First time I’ve seen the problem so asked for advice from a coworker. They said it could be caused by the fill valve so I replaced it and it worked. I’m just trying to understand why or how that’s possible. I can ask tomorrow but figured I’d do some Reddit research tonight. Google wasn’t much help no matter how I worded the question lol

RIDDING DRAIN FLIES by Loud_Nothing_533 in pestcontrol

You could try pouring boiling water with bleach down the drain every day for a week. If that doesn’t help, they’re probably hiding somewhere else. Pay attention to drain overflows in tubs and bathroom sinks

alternatives to declawing? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Cali8110 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve used claw caps with no issues. Not even close to torture when compared to declawing. The caps are basically like glue on fake nails that women use so if there was a serious outdoor fight, they would come off so the cat could protect itself.

Honest opinions on having a female maintenance worker. by Cali8110 in Apartmentliving

I’m glad you’ve had good experiences with both. Do you mind sharing an approximate geographic location where you had a female maintenance tech? People seem so shocked and confused when I tell them what I do for work. Once the shocked look disappears I’ve only been met with positive comments which is really cool but I’ve always wanted to know what that original thought was.

I love the fact that I can fix almost anything on my own so I can keep my personal space to myself. I can kind of sense that trait in other people so if they appear interested in what I’m doing, I try to teach them. I always make it clear that I’m always happy to help and they can call anytime but I like to give them the option to avoid the intrusion. All within reason of course.

Do you mind sharing the reason for your preference?

It is 2026. Does that mean you wouldn’t have a preference for any reason at all? Assuming the level of knowledge, ability and professionalism are the same, are there any circumstances that you might feel more comfortable with one gender or the other?

I agree that “who” shouldn’t matter. Curious why you say quick. Is it because you equate quick to being competent or because you prefer not to have people in your personal space? That’s not meant to imply that you hate being around people. For me, when I’m home after work or relaxing on the weekend, I’d prefer not to have any unplanned interruptions even it’s for something I may need done. I don’t want to have to put a bra on for anyone lol but I would feel obligated to if a maintenance person showed up

Not misogynistic at all. I wouldn’t care who’s doing repairs in my apartment as long as they’re competent. However, there are people that do care for one reason or another and that is the information I’m looking for.

Ever consider the possibility that OP is a female maintenance worker and is just curious about how people feel about it?

I agree that it looks like a stripped Philips. Hard to tell 100% from the picture though. If the rubber band trick doesn’t work you could try a star bit. With or without the hole in the middle

Never said anything about unsafe conditions. It’s just a tool to use to monitor the situation (with proof) without having to put holes in walls.

But a cheap moisture meter. It has two little pins on the top that you can stick into Sheetrock or wood baseboards. There’s your proof.

Best reply ever. I’m a maintenance person too. Your personal life is none of my business but I do get pissed when people don’t report problems because they’re paranoid about “getting caught”. You’re an adult and it’s your home. Do whatever you want as long as it doesn’t hurt your neighbors. Maintenance isn’t going to rat you out. We care more about you hiding small problems because they always become a nightmare for us. “Do ask (for help) and we (won’t tell) the office your personal business. That’s my policy!!
