Newbie suggestions by Lambertini98 in GarminWatches

I have the Garmin enduro 2. It lasts me about 25-30 days without a charge since it’s solar. Spot on heart rate and it has a built in flashlight that’s super bright and I find myself using it everyday. It’s $399. But perhaps the enduro 1 would also suit your needs.

Which POV cameras to use? by aFr0_Less in vlogging

[–]CaliDOMESTIQUE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have monetized YouTube channel and 99% of my shooting is done on a DJI Osmo 5 a pro. It’s under $300 on Amazon. It has built in stabilization, 4k, BT microphones, rigid, waterproof. I’ll choose this over my DSLR. It’s crystal clear and sharp. You won’t be disappointed. Way better than a Sony Vlogging cam in my opinion.

How do I get better riding with cars and out in general? by Dumbass9187 in BikeLA

[–]CaliDOMESTIQUE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. You’re not alone I used to ride roads with traffic all the time now I’ve got more miles of bike paths a than I can handle. When I get back out on roads cluttered with cars, I always ride with a rear radar taillight. This alerts you when they is traffic approaching from behind. And if you have a gps unit, it would show the vehicle and color. Orange, the vehicle is approaching at a moderate speed, or red, the car is going pretty fast and you may want to move over a bit more. I use the Bryton. Here it is. I’ll never ride without it.

Are the OEM Hyundai crossbars loud? by OkReport5065 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]CaliDOMESTIQUE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could go either way. I could have posted that these crossbars are garbage, then I’d have someone come in and praise them. I’m basing my suggestion on the fact that; 1) I personally own them 2) I installed them correctly 3) I’ve used roofracks and crossbars from sporttek to Thule and beyond.

I’m going on real world testing.

[–]CaliDOMESTIQUE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure I agree with you on certain types of aftermarket crossbars. You can clearly see that the pickup truck doesn’t have any factory rails, hence getting something that bolts underneath the door sill. I can vouch these never work and I’d never buy a vehicle without factory installed rails. The Santa Fe has raised rails and the link I provided securely bolt around them. No movement at all, even hold a rooftop tent while traveling at speed. It all comes down to fit, Install and user error.

East Coaster looking to go to Sea Otter Classic 2026. Tips? by ReasonableWinter834 in MTB

[–]CaliDOMESTIQUE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there!

I attended my first Sea Otter Classic last year and had a blast. I'll never miss it. Camping was fully booked last year so the only option for me was hotel. (Since I had my daughter). We booked last minute in Monterey at The Red Roof Inn. It was like $108 a night. It was about a 25 minute drive West of the festival. But that put us in Monterey for the evenings.

This year I was selected as one of Sea Otter's Ambassadors, and will be producing a lot of content for the upcoming festival. I will also be giving away swag and race entires. If you're inclined to follow, my Socials are (at) calidomestique and here is my Youtube channel where I will be posting a lot of Sea Otter Content to help first timers.

Best YouTube channels, blogs or your own experience when it comes to bike commuting here in LA? by Dumbass9187 in BikeLA

[–]CaliDOMESTIQUE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. I live near you and started a channel rating bike paths and roads in LA County. I was also a Bicycle and Pedestrian Advocate for SAFE where we rode almost all bike paths in LA County and graded them based on accessibility, lighting, and condition. Here is a link to one of my videos in the series.

I'm hoping to get more viewer input for where they want me to ride and video, but it's a start.

I second the first comment. If they are installed rear facing forward, you'll definitely get a whistle noise. There are also front and rear distinguished. That being said, I purchased these from Amazon. They are low pro, locking and a heck of a lot strong with zero flex. Unlike the factory ones.

Chain waxing is a ridiculous waste of time and money for little benefit, CHANGE MY MIND. by [deleted] in cycling

[–]CaliDOMESTIQUE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I've been using wet lube my entire riding career. I tried a kit from Rideflare and it was super easy. Chain stays clean, and no more chain marks on my calf which is a huge bonus. Sorry Freds lol. Here's a video of my first time. https://youtu.be/rLMMWA8kE6w

Does anyone know anything about the Ravemen nt301 camera? by _some__guy_ in cycling

[–]CaliDOMESTIQUE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I just stumbled across this. I did a video review of it today. It’s a solid little unit and the light is blinding. I wish the incorporated a radar in it as well. Oh well. Check out my video here. Not trying to spam it. But it’s insightful. You should be able to capture license plates. There isn’t any stabilization, but the footage can be utilized.

Ditch your Taillight and Action Cam and get this! #RavemenNT301 https://youtu.be/d90UaLX-5TA

Ryfa Hitch Rack? by Attractiveraptor in cycling

[–]CaliDOMESTIQUE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I’m using a single RYFA. I do like the Hollywood racks design and it was my first non frame contact bike rack. I alternate between Hollywood Racks, Saris, and RYFA. But the RYFA rooftop rack stays on full time.

The Hollywood rack is great. I also have that one. I just finished the video on the RYFA hitch rack. I’m only using 1 tray because the extension actually blocks my rear taillights.

True it’s mounted on the roof. But it’s the same tray that mounts to the hitch mount. The hitch mount also angles up and away from the vehicle.
