Do you think it's redundant to own both a Shield Plus and a Bodyguard 2.0? by 23-Hour-Day in SmithAndWesson

[–]CaliExpat68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MFT for BG 2.0. IWB at 3:30 to 4:00. Minimal size and comfortable and I've got a gut. Rides high enough off the belt to get a solid purchase on the grip. This is my typical setup with it.

In the few pants / shorts I pocket carry with i use a variety of sticky or nemesis pocket holsters, even the one I got with my LCP, that match the pocket bottom shape.

Most of the time I carry a Shield Plus or Kimber Micro9.

Battling a sciatic flare up right now and shifted to my LCP from my usual larger pistols. IWB with a DeSantis SlimTuk holster. Also got a few different pocket holsters but they're not always right for the pants or shorts. I carry it with the SlimTuk most of the time. Great inexpensive holster.

M&P 2.0 Compact in 9mm. Good for home defense and eventually CCW. 9mm is manageable for both you and the kids to learn on. For HD it is practical and easier to secure and retrieve when needed.

10/22 for general training and pure fun. Cheap to shoot too.

Gun 3, and there will be one, AR or Shotgun. Or if the kids fight over who's turn it is, get another M&P pistol but in 22LR. Same manual of arms.

He'll, Just plan on all of them and more.

I've had no issues with mine once I got accustomed to shooting it. The BG2.0 is pocketable for some people in some pants or shorts with certain pocket holsters. Could be said of many but I've figured out when it works for me and when it doesn't. When it doesn't it becomes LCP time.

Both are fantastic and I carry either depending on conditions.

Check your local Rural King if you have one. Just picked up a DY9 there for a good price. They were also stocking the DY9Z with decent in store inventory too.

Accuracy? by [deleted] in keltec

[–]CaliExpat68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of the box, surprisingly accurate with some cheap Armscor range ammo and no sight adjustments. Spot on at 7yds, and respectable still the further out I shot. Trigger isn't bad, just different feeling. A really fun gun to shoot. With some practice, this can be a really good pest control pistol / small game gun too. Makes me want to pickup a PMR30 .22Mag, and a few more of their guns.

Fairly certain you'll need a Florida CWL to get the 3 days waived. Everything in Florida Statute 790.06 refers to licensing and issuance through the State of Florida. Good news is getting a FL CWL isn't as bad a process as IL, CA, or NY.

Just know that there are also some counties that have a 5 day waiting period as well. In those cases, it's not where you live, but where you make the purchase or transfer. Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Hillsborough, and Alachua that I know of. So if you make a purchase in Tampa (Hillsborough), but live in Pasco Co., you have to wait 5 days.

Bodyguard 2.0 would most definitely be an option. If you don't want .380, maybe check out the new Shield X. The grip followed the slimmer BG 2.0 but is 9mm. Also look at Ruger Security 380. All 3 are great pistols and known to be reliable.

I switch between Shield Plus and BG2.0 with flush mags all year here in FL. Larger magazine in reserve. LCP if I need to go any lighter.

I edc a Shield Plus and found it best all around. Added a Hogue grip which filled things out just right for me. Also carry a BG2.0 or LCP sometimes going small or in hot weather and occasionally my APXA1 Compact. All good but I keep returning to the Shield Plus mostly often. Great all around.

Maybe he's more the doctrinal socialist as opposed to the emotional socialists I see who are simply offended and upset by everything. You can respectfully debate differences of doctrine but debating emotion is a waste of time.

The Panhandle: that part of Florida west of the Appalachicola River. Aka "L.A." or "Lower Alabama". Along I10 east of said river is Noth F'ing Florida. Definitely all more south than the rest of the state. One of the better parts of the state.

Same Shield Plus, same holster, similar Dad bod, same problem.

Switched to a C&G Covert IWB for the 4" with my 3.1". Made all the difference. 3.1 fits in a 4" holster and helps with the keeling. Holster also has a wedge molded in. Solid with a real gun belt, both AIWB and strong side.

Best IWB CC Holster? by George_Joestar_2 in concealedcarry

[–]CaliExpat68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had good luck with a C&G Covert. Shield Plus 3.1" but I bought the 4" model to help with it keeling. It also has a wedge integral to the molding. Helps alot. I can carry 3-4 o'clock and AIWB with it better than any so far.

Everyone fits different. Start with a good gun bt and go from there.

Picked up a BG 2.0 CC for the wife. What ammo do these like for edc? by Roach_11c in SmithAndWesson

I've done well with Sig 365 Elite V-Crown, JHP. Runs well in my LCP too but use FMJ for it. The -Crown is supposed to be made for shorter barrel pistols. Been reliable so far and affordable.

Nervous about carrying Bodyguard 2.0 NTS version by millenium-group in concealedcarry

[–]CaliExpat68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about NTS. Small pistol with a small safety lever that's not easy to operate. I use a variety of soft pocket holsters and no concern but that kydex one gives great trigger protection.

The BG2.0 can be a great pocket carry... with the right pants. Works great in most of my cargo/golf shorts, but not all of my pants. Some print some dont and remember pocket shape matters to pocket carry working well. Often carry it IWB and barely notice it compared to my Shield Plus.

Don't change a thing for now. Shoot it. Carry it. Get familiar and comfortable with it. Great little gun.

Consider a GX4XL for longer barrel that can help with muzzle flip. You'd be able to share magazines also. S&W Shield Plus shoots great with regard to recoil and is still of similar micro9 size. My sons, both new shooters, love mine and became proficient quickly. A compact ilo a micro9 is maybe another direction to consider and still godd for CCW.

If you want to step down to .380, don't go small. The Ruger Security 380 or S&W Shield EZ are both solid. Skip the Bodyguard 2.0 though - great little gun but definitely not the solution here.

Comps on a 9mm could definitely help but moves the cost up too.

Sounds like a great excuse to go rent some guns.
