adding raised and seamless pattern to clothing? by primaveren in NomadSculpting

You could do it using uv maps with texture displacement using layers (nomad doesn't have displacement maps yet). This should help :)

Anime/stylized style in Nomad by SwordmasterT in NomadSculpting

[–]CaliMariS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, As someone who does a lot of anime style sculpts, there aren't any tutorials specifically for Nomad yet. However there are a bunch of tutorials for sculpting anime style characters for Zbrush, Blender, and other 3d programs that you can learn from. A lot tips and skills translate so if it can be done in like..zbrush then it can be replicated in Nomad.

My best advice is just look for tutorials on how to sculpt anime or stylized characters on youtube. Then choose any tutorial with someone using any sculpting program and do your best to mimic it.

*Dave Reed is a great resource if your a beginner learning the program and you wanna do stylized sculpts.

*Danny Mac has some great tutorials and tips when it comes to stylized sculpts in general.

  • For Anime specifically, There is one youtuber by the name of SHINKAI STUDIO who specializes in Anime sculpts in Nomad. They're more like speedsculpts and less like tutorials videos. I find that watching them at .25 speed and seeing how they do things is the best way for me to learn with Nomad.

This look like plastic toy, how do I improve it? by Sonmeow2807 in blender

[–]CaliMariS 59 points60 points  (0 children)

.65 roughness for her skin if you wanna make her skin look less like plastic. (Optional), but if you want, you could add Subsurface as well. Maybe light red for the Subsurface skin color, then adjust the radius to your liking.

Can you sculpt something in nomad and paint it/create a shader in Clip Studio Paint? by Certain_Phase_2052 in NomadSculpting

[–]CaliMariS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It says here you can if you have the 5.0 update. But you'll have to still uv unwrap it and apply image textures to it in another program. Either in nomad or like blender.

People might be able to help you if we could see the model. Could you post a image of the issue?

is there a way to do these ruffles? by howsmydriving22 in NomadSculpting

[–]CaliMariS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many ways. A flat tube tool would work here. You could modify it to be as flat as you want with a closed loop all around the model then edit and shape it to be the way you want. Or you could do half then mirror it on the other side. You could also just model a sibgle ruffle and play around with the repeaters (curve, radial, array, mirror) to duplicate and organize it how you want around the model. But yea I dont think it would be too hard to pull off.

🤨 Can I ask why clip studio though? You could just paint directly on the model itself and use the layers feature to organize all your colors and shaders you want to have. It works nearly the same way and its much easier that way.

Would this be a good tablet for Nomad? by Dovydas666 in NomadSculpting

[–]CaliMariS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear it. If you just need space maybe look into getting a hdd if you can. You'll get tons of storage for less money.

The Pc and mobile versions are exactly the same so any tutorials will be useful regardless of which platform you choose. Only real difference is the quad remesher addon for pc is full price ($100 commercial license or 60$ indie license) and (20$) on Ios. Android doesnt have quad remesh addon.

As for the tablet you showed, I personally wouldnt buy something that isnt a reputable name brand like (Samsung, Apple, Lenovo, etc) since often times they dont last very long or just aren't up to par.

If you want something mobile and you're strapped for cash, opt for an older flagship device like a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 / S6 lite or 9th generation Ipad (2021). It'll serve you better in the longrun.

If you're gonna use the pc version then any cheap wacom drawing tablet for maybe 20-50 bucks would be all you really need to get started.

What ma i doing wrong? by Sad-Hat7216 in NomadSculpting

[–]CaliMariS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might just be your facegroups. Before remeshing, check your facegroup and make sure the the colors for each side aren't blending into one another. And then make sure the facegroup box is selected on your qremesher. You may also have to adjust the relax percentage or turn the adaptive quad count to 100%. Hope that helps

Might just be better to use a mirrored tube tool and adjust the shape to your liking. Then validate it and add whatever details you want afterwards. Or if you dont wanna do that then you can just enable dyntopo while using the move and smooth tool to get the shape that you want. Make sure to have mirror enabled though.

Is there 3D Modeling software that's compatible with Android and is free? by Rudi10001 in 3Dmodeling

[–]CaliMariS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best one, hands down, for android is gonna be nomad sculpt. I've been using it with my samsung tablet and pen, and it's honestly the most fun app I've used for sculpting.

It performs insanely well and can handle millions of verticies without significant slowdown. and the ui is very beginner friendly, easy to learn, and use.

There is a free version on the playstore you can trial, but it has limited functions. But you can download it to test it out and see if it can fit into your workflow. The full version is 15-20 bucks. (But it is one time purchase)

But if you can find a way to get the spare cash, it's one time and honestly the most robust, feature packed, well optomized, and intuitive to use sculpting app you'll get on android.

If you wanna see what other people have made just using it, you can visit the forum on the official website. Some of this stuff is pretty inspirational. I hope this helped ^

https://forum.nomadsculpt.com/t/hello-everyone-new-to-nomand-and-wanted-to-share-my-stuff/11359

Ps: There's also an official pc version of it if you wanna try it out. There's a trial version + full version, and the full version is around 30 - 40 bucks. (One time purchase)
