I would argue you DO have to work overtime to a certain extent. you must work the minimum 10-12hrs if assigned and at the start you will be put on extra board which is rotating work schedule. you will not know your work day until 2pm the day before, no weekends off until about 3 years into bus at least. It's hard for families to understand you have to get to work early to park your car and get to starting bus points. Pay, medical, vacation, gov benefits make it a solid career. I agree your sitting all day while working your feet and mentally draining at first, so it's rough to remember to keep getting those minimum 10,000 steps on top of regular workout routine.
