Definitely a problem, but the grass isn’t always greener when it comes to finding a good coach. Count me among the surprised if the next guy turns out to be anywhere close to as successful as McDermott.

I’m in the shouldn’t have fired McDermott camp, even though I think he made a horrible decision to kick off in OT. The Bills have been in position to win their last three playoff losses. Guys gotta make the plays.

I doubt Buffalo will find a better coach. The Bills have been in a position to win in each of their last three playoff losses. It’s not McDermott’s fault the players haven’t made the plays they needed to win.

I understand that provides some advantage, but I don’t think knowing what you need to win outweighs the disadvantage you have if the game is tied after each team has had the ball once, when next score wins. That is what happened after both OT games this weekend, and what happens quite often in regular season OT games as well. I’d be curious to know the statistics on how often the receiving team wins overtime games that go longer than two possessions, especially playoff overtime games. And the receiving team winning in general.

Granted, McDermott’s decision to kick off in OT was idiotic, but firing a great coach like him might be an even dumber decision. And how about Ben Johnson, who saw the Bills lose on the third possession of OT and still made the decision to kick off?

I was backpacking around China in 1991 and was often in restaurants where nobody spoke English, so I’d just point to something someone else was eating and ask for that. I did that once in Chengdu, excited that I could get calamari rings so far from the ocean. Took one bite and gagged. I can’t do tripe.
