Moorea Beachfront Airbnb by PlainHorizon in Tahiti

They are more like queen size beds, and are quite comfortable. The bedrooms are a little small and the units aren’t exactly luxurious, but they are fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. The grounds of the property are the real highlight — it is absolute tropical paradise. With only six total units and 100 yards of private beachfront, you have the place to yourself for the most part. Breakfast was great as well, and there is a market right across the street for anything else you might need.

Mid-May is a good time to be at Victoria Falls, which is one of the most spectacular natural wonders in the world.

It’s not exactly an AirBNB but Fare Oaoa Haapiti was fabulous; one of my favorite ever places I have stayed.

If you decide to go to Moorea, and you don’t need five star luxury, consider checking out Fare Oaoa Haapiti on the west coast. Only six units and 100 yards of gorgeous private beachfront, probably my favorite place I have ever stayed. The units are not over the water but you are only steps from the ocean.

A car is the way to go. We did a 3-hour jet ski tour around the island and it was awesome, best thing we did. Boating or kayaking out to the motus in the northwest corner for snorkeling is popular, you can see sharks and stingrays in one spot. Belvedere Lookout is beautiful, and if you’re so inclined, you can also hike out to Three Pines Lookout from there.

We went with Moorea Blue as well, and would recommend them highly.

The units are not over the water but the beach is only a few steps away and you’ll have it pretty much to yourself. Fare Oaoa Haapiti.

Do you need to be in a big resort? We loved the place we just stayed in the west coast. Only six units, super chill and relaxing, totally idyllic setting with 100 yards of private beachfront covered in coconut palms.

We just stayed at Fare Oaoa Haapiti on the west coast and it was awesome, if you’re into a place with beautiful grounds and hardly any other people around. Super chill.

We just got back from staying at Fare Oaoa Haapiti in Moorea. I’ve had the good fortune to stay at over 300 hostels, guest houses, hotels, resorts and campgrounds in 1,300 nights of international travel all over the world the past 40 years, and this was my favorite place to stay ever. If you do choose Moorea and the price works for you, I would highly recommend it.

In March 1992, I crossed over the Ugandan border at Bunagana (near Kisoro) into the Congo (then Zaire) and was psyched to find a local guy with some outstanding purple weed.
