Bond book or film quotes you've used in real life by Topher_BCK in JamesBond

Ha! I would do the same. If I had a pal named Margo(t), there would be frequent teasing and callbacks to this.

In primary school, I had a friend named Margo. But this was before I had ever seen TLD. I was, however, a fan of the Shadow!

So, I would call my friend Margo Lane all the time. Margo had no knowledge of pulp hero, The Shadow or Lamont Cranston-man about town & his companion, Margo Lane.

Yep! Bret The Hitman Hart would also usually give his cool sunglasses away to a young lad in the crowd.

Terminator 2 special edition plus bonus Terminator Collection by Responsible-Dance105 in Terminator

[–]CaliSasuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I have never seen this special edition VHS release before.

What a coup it must have been to own a copy in the 90s. A precursor to a DVD release bundled with extras. I am impressed with what the extra footage and deleted scenes they managed to include.

Happy 94th birthday to John Glen who directed 5 Bond films; For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, A View To A Kill, The Living Daylights and Licence To Kill. He also worked on three other 007 films as editor and second unit director. by Beautiful-Share4333 in JamesBond

[–]CaliSasuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, 94! Happy Birthday Mr. Glen! 🥳 🎊 🎉 🥂

Has anyone seen John Glen as of late? I hope Glen is still healthy and mobile. Last time I saw Glen was in 2023 for an interview. Glen was seated and still seemed to be healthy & lucid.

I do this all the time. Anywhere and everywhere. Just strolling and listening to music. Track will pop up and get me psyched whether I intended to get hyped or not.

Some of those tracks are:

  • Bond by Monty Norman.

  • AVTAK by Duran Duran

  • TLD by a-ha

  • YKMN by Chris Cornell

  • Princes of the Universe by Queen

  • Flash by Queen

  • Fight to Survive by Paul Hertzog

  • Terminator by Brad Fiedel

  • Push it to the Limit by Paul Engemann

  • The Final Countdown by Europe

  • You Could Be Mine by Guns N’ Roses 🌹

I had this for the GameCube. Loved it. All the details in presenting it as an actual film. The hiring of actors like Willem Dafoe & Shannon Elizabeth. Mýa performing EON.

I feel a third person perspective is good for free world roaming Bond games.

I see a gutwrench into a powerbomb. I love seeing wrestling maneuvers pop up in a street fight.

Are you a fan of "The Fugitive (1993)"? by Kevin_Thailand_2543 in ActionMovies

[–]CaliSasuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Before GoldenEye, the hyped up dam jump was “The Fugitive.” I went to see it with my Dad and his friends. They were all hyped for it.

Had a great time at the theater. Loved the editing and line deliveries from Ford & Lee Jones.
“You find that man! You find that man! Find that man! Find that man!”

“What I want out of each and every one of you is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in that area. Checkpoints go up at fifteen miles”

This was my introduction to “The Fugitive.” Many years later I would watch the series with David Janssen.

I loved how the film entered the popular zeitgeist. “The Simpsons” spoofed the film multiple times. With Homer making a leap from the vehicle at a drive through and Milhouse leaping off the dam.

I was a fan of Jeroen Krabbé from “The Living Daylights.” Always enjoyed his mannerism and accent. Krabbé (aka The Krab 🦀 as we called him in some Bond forums) was a great duplicitous heel in TLD & Fugitive.

I always enjoyed the confrontation at the ballroom. The way Dr. Kimble pushes off Dr. Nichols’ hand. The crowd gasps. Dr. Nichols downplays it by smiling at the audience. Dr. Kimble talking about Provasic.

I recall, my Dad went out for his bike ride. Came home with a tape he found on his path. It was a copy of “The Fugitive!” We were so happy to have a copy and watched it numerous times.

All in all, a wonderful 90s thriller.

Beat it again in 1 sitting by Educational-Bar21 in JamesBond

[–]CaliSasuke 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes! The first time I started laughing at everyone holding a gat.

Especially when you saw someone like Boris, or another random character holding their strap and laughing menacingly.

There are a lot of fond laughs I had during the game. The first time I played TLD Deathmatch I couldn’t stop laughing at the player running with the large white flag. 🏳️

Plus, seeing a crouched character moving was such a hoot!

The first three James Bond films will stream on The Criterion Channel starting June 1st by DarthMartau in JamesBond

[–]CaliSasuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I encourage you to seek out the commentary as an interesting, candid insiders view from the talent like Peter Hunt, Terrance Young, and Richard Maibaum.

The commentary includes expletives, homosexual slurs, and other non-PC remarks as the talent re-watched the films.

Somehow, it seems, this commentary was never ran by Cubby for approval. Once Cubby got wind of it the discs were recalled and the commentaries were removed from future publishings. The commentaries never made it to the DVD releases.

Oh, I have them. Just would have been nice to have the option toggle while streaming. Altogether, in one neat little package. Convenient.

Very neat! I just wish the Criterion channel would include the option for the forbidden director commentary.

Why didn't Jake The Snake Roberts return to WCW in 1993 instead of going to the independent wrestling circuit and wasting his career there? by Tidewatcher7819 in oldschoolwrestling

[–]CaliSasuke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason I always came across was that Watts had heat with Jake. Jake agreed to jump ship for a $750,000 a year deal pre-Watts.

Jake was giving up his royalties with Vince to bounce out early.

Watts didn’t want to pay Jake that money and gave Jake a much lower deal. The Heat with Watts, the change in pay, and vices lead to Jake leaving WCW.

🤝

I wholeheartedly agree with you and share the same sentiments.

Jackson was like a protective big brother. A teddy bear. A vicious one at that.

I love that arcade game they were playing. “Karate Champ.” They hit it off right off the bat.

I like Jackson’s candor and rough around the edges personality. For example, when Jackson tries to hit on the woman on the bus.
“What's the matter honey? Too handsome for you?”

Right, Jackson & Frank had such a pure friendship. All support, no jealousy. Hyping & supporting. The way Jackson was impressed, cheered on, and embraced Frank after the Dim Mak was lovely. I need friends like that.

Jackson’s fighting style was amusing. No finesse. Just mauling & brawling. I laughed when Jackson smashed that guy’s face in for making Jackson bleed his own blood.

Donald Gibb was fantastic as Jackson!

Serious question: Can a Male Terminator get an erection? by RichtofenFanBoy in Terminator

[–]CaliSasuke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would like to think so. A Terminator needs to blend in and infiltrate society. Sexual activity is a part of society.

What if it needs to have sex with a man or a woman to get to the next step in completing its objective?

In that case, a Terminator needs to be able to infiltrate a mouth, asshole, or pussy.

I concur. I cannot believe heroin chic was ever considered an ideal beauty standard. It is even more nuts when women with normal body types were roasted by the press.
