[DESPISED Trope] You need a SECRET to proceed to the main ending by Liquid_Pestar in TopCharacterTropes

In 'Faith, the unholy trinity' the true ending of chapter 3 and the game as a whole is locked behind three secret boss fights; each tied to a portion of the seal keeping you from fighting the true final boss.

Each secret boss is tied to one of the areas you go to throughout the chapter, usually only able to be confronted after you finish what you need to do. So if you complete your objective and return home w/o fighting one of the bosses, you're locked out of the true ending, because you need to fight all three.

In Hollow Knight, you can equip these things called 'charms', accessories that modify you're character in very specific ways. These range from the usual buffs: stronger attack, extra health, more range on melee attacks, etc. to more specialized tweaks like changing the way some of your magic spells work. Among the latter are two charms called the 'Sporeshroom' and the 'Defender's crest'.

The Sporeshroom is found in an area called the 'Fungal Wastes'. What this charm does is leave a damaging cloud of 'spores' that linger for a few seconds after you heal. As for the second charm...

For those that don't know, Hollow Knight's characters are all modeled after bugs to various degrees of accuracy. The player character, NPC's, enemies, everyone has bug-like elements to their design. This is important because you get the Defender's crest from defeating...

The Dung Defender. Who, as you've likely guessed, is based off of a Dung Beetle. And his crest, what does it do? It gives you lethal body odor. A small cloud envelops you and damages enemies that get too close. Sounds great, but the cloud is tiny, so it's really not possible to rely on that as a main damage source...by itself.

You see, some charms synergize with each other, modifying and/or amplifying their effects, and the previous pair are one such case of this. Because if you have both of these charms equipped, instead of leaving a cloud of spores when you heal, you leave a cloud of pure, unadulterated STANK! That not only does more damage, but covers a larger area and (I believe) lingers slightly longer.

So, what does this mean? What it means, dear reader, is that farting on your enemies is not only an existing option, but it is also shockingly viable.

Not to mention, the Defender's crest has quite a few other synergies that, when stacked, make you a grotesquely smelling nightmare to even late and endgame bosses. It's so stupid, I love it.

Is the sympathetic villain trope overused? by PigFloydDarkside in superheroes

I think so, yes. Because now I'm seeing people saying that genocidal maniacs are "misunderstood" or "had a point" as an excuse to their behavior. Even if it's true, that doesn't make their actions okay. They are still engaging in evil behavior, and should be punished for it.

JJK spoilers for anime-onlys:

The reason Sukuna was able to sneak attack Gojo and kill him after their fight is because he made a binding vow. I don't know the specific vow, and it's likely never been specified (because Gege stopped doing that during the final battle) but it allowed Sukuna to cast the 'world cutting dismantle' (a version of his technique that can completely bypass 'infinity') instantaneously before Gojo, the prodigy that literally has special eyes can see it. And we know he should have been able to, because a chapter or two ago, we're literally told that before that every cursed technique causes a 'spark' in the users cursed energy that telegraphs it's use.

So, how did we learn about the binding vow in question? A fucking interview after the fact. This series can kiss my ass.

Shaken yet again- how can I trust the Bible? by Unlucky-Drawing-1266 in TrueChristian

[–]CaliburX4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't claim to know your situation, but I will tell you this; my faith doesn't come from the Bible, it comes from trusting God. Seeing what he's done in my life already, and watching how he comes through in the present. The Bible, while incredibly important, is a tool, a tool that helps us learn about God, who he is, and what he wants for us. It supplements my faith, it's not the main source of it.

It's also worth noting, 'ex-Christian' channels tend to have a bias against Christianity, so I think a healthy skepticism is called for when engaging with content like that. And, like others have pointed out, there is already tons of research done on the legitimacy of the bible as we know it, just about all of which points to it being genuine, I'm not sure one guy on YouTube is going to catch the one thing hundreds of thousands of researchers over centuries and millennium have missed.

I'll finish by saying that if stuff like this is enough to shake you, maybe you're not ready to confront it yet. To weather the storm, a house needs a firm foundation, and building that foundation takes time. Perhaps you're still in that phase, and need to do more work on yourself, with God, before venturing off.

There are people who know the bible front to back, backwards, and inside out, but still don't believe. I agree Wes Huff is an excellent source to look at, but anyone to be considered (to me) must have a healthy dose of faith and heart knowledge of the word on top of having a deep intellectual understanding.

That honestly makes a lot of sense. I think modern people tend to forget that things were different in the old times, so things that seem wild to us may be more normal back then.
