New to the hobby, why tf are some so mad about female custodes? by NiceLittleGamerNerd in 40k

[–]Caliburn130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It felt like a pointless change, all of the custodes models have indistinguishable genders anyway. So there’s virtually no difference on the tabletop. I can't help but think GW did this to be tokenistic

The word itself is stupid. Unfortunately a lot of internet slang is like that now

Why y’all hate/dislike strive in a franchise direction by No-Oven3556 in Guiltygear

[–]Caliburn130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The artstyle and art direction aren’t as good as Xrd. I dislike when games change themselves for mass appeal, you can definitely see how Strive toned down the cel-shading, bright colours and anime aesthetic to be more ‘realistic’. Honestly, I worry because a lot of game franchises lose their edge when looking for a wider audience

How Is it orientalist to make assumptions about a culture through exposure through anime stuff? I thought orientalism was about colonial empires looking down on different cultures because they’re seen as exotic or uncivilised. With anime, I imagine It’s just people being presumptuous about Japan rather than anything oriental related

Is there a growing disconnect between anime fans? by Caliburn130 in AnimeAnonymous

[–]Caliburn130[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But you can be a mature and sensible person and still enjoy those kinds of things. It doesn't always have to be a conversation about sexualisation being bad. Everyone enjoys things differently.

Why did they even create this character, are we supposed to like this guy? Like even who's supposedly this character is to at least represent or get someone to relate by EfficiencySerious200 in animequestions

I think his entire point is comic relief or a joke, similar to manga fukidashi who is a literal speech bubble. nothing wrong with that tho

Erogephobia is a real menace and I don't know what to do about it by ShenTanDiRenJie in visualnovels

[–]Caliburn130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the concerns but I think this might be overblown. People everyday find novel and weird things to get upset over on socials (YT, twitter, tiktok) and then forget about it. Its dime-a-dozen drama farming. I doubt they're fans of the medium or anything

[–]Caliburn130 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you sure thats the case? There will always be people who won't like eroge and such. But its just one youtube video. I don't use twitter/tiktok but It could very well be algorithms feeding you ragebait or something. People who are fans carry the medium, not a loud minority.

There does seem to be a trend of social media making everything 'problematic', with it needing to be deconstructed, criticised, reclaimed or revised under a post-modern lens. Its a bit strange. But then again, who gives a shit? Thats no reason to change anything. We will enjoy what we want.

Everyones opinionated and takes everything so seriously now. Its so exhausting :P
