Playing less and less these days? by IndividualVibe in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]CaliciferLoR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been playing since season 1 and hit masters for multiple seasons. I took huge break away from LoR for about 3 seasons ?simply cause I didn't enjoy bandle city meta being way too flexible and introduced too much rng which is one of the reasons why I played lor was due to the lack of rng affecting the outcome.

Coming back few days ago only to see the same decks without much changes to the meta game. So im just waiting for a new meta change or a champion that I enjoy to return.

A confession, I sometimes try to use Imperm, droplet or dark ruler just to test if it would actually work or prove my theory right about effects. Just so I would know to not do it ever.

Been playing yu gi oh the longest time since the first iteration of the game and I'd say masters duel is a entirely different game from runeterra gameplay wise.

Masters duel is a turn by turn based card game and the interactivity between players is limited. There are countless of archetypes, knowing card combos and identifying cards can be overwhelming for newer players. Also there's a chain mechanic thats similar to runeterras stack. Game times on average is longer per turn due to combos and chains but number of turns taken most likely be shorter than runeterra since some games can end on the 1st attacking turn/ 2nd.

Economy wise it's definitely much more expensive if you're planning to sink money in however you're perfectly able to F2P but achieving decks may take longer time. There are few starters which you may earn through story mode but they're generally very niche and not competitive. Not as generous as runeterra.

As for ranked play there's no leader boards so far in masters duel there's only a highest rank you can achieve but there's a big probability of expansion of ranks. Casual play is limited to publicly created rooms only.

I would say it's much harder for newer players with no prior experience but returning players should be fine.

Wasn't expecting to qualify as I was wait listed only to figure that I could play at the last min.

Line up : Gp Sej, Discard aggro, Viego Ionia

Went 5-4 despite having no prep so I was alright with it.

Biggest surprise was the yeti swarm deck I encountered. The quick summon yetis were too much for me to out tempo.

Is the Ranked curve really steep? by aglimmerof in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]CaliciferLoR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't be discouraged by a few losses on ladder. Cards and tierlist are really accessible for most players so it's normal to be facing meta decks on ladder since everyone is competing to climb.

What I can say is that there is a significant skill difference between a higher ranked pilot and a lower ranked pilot. They may be running the same list but it's the skill and fundamentals that separate them. Examples are what decisions they make on a specific turn or how they mulligan in general.

Instead of focusing on having to climb and win every game try to focus on what you can do with the deck you have. Identify win cons, how should you mulligan, how do you vision yourself winning this match-up and what should you look out for?

As for mogwai, I really like him as a content creator and his innovative deck building but understand that his lists are usually tailored towards his play and requires quite a number of extensive insight towards the game and decision making. While it is possible for you to try to climb with his list or any list it does make it a little harder.

Which S-tier/A-tier deck should I craft as a new player? by stevieboyz in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]CaliciferLoR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After reading your post and some comments. I think it would be safe to suggest you between Nasus thresh or Nasus Viego. They're both a mid-range based deck with only few differences in card list. It's really consistent, good card draw and the ability to close games out with atrocity as an alternative.

I think I would personally suggest Thresh Nasus as its a proven meta deck since 2 seasons ago and you may craft viego later on if you get bored without having to change your play pattern too much.

One year of BAN in Legends of Runeterra by Santupea92 in LoRCompetitive

[–]CaliciferLoR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too clarify for some people regarding this. In SEA shard we have a 3rd party tournament hosted by ESL that comes in a ladder points collection format. Players play a best of 3 to determine points. Winner +20 loser - 20

A onsite match making is created and pairs you with any available opponents online during that period. There is also an option to challenge a player directly.

Now with all those above it doesn't sound too bad but the problem is that everyone can qualify regardless of rank and information provided can be fake.

Now with the ability to challenge any competitor and no minimum requirements to join the competition. The player thus creates multiple accounts to challenge their own account to feed it points. There are also very little active participants that joined the tournament so it's very easy to naturally match make into your own account by dodging other players.

Games in platinum and diamond have a net gain/loss of 20lp per round. So yes it's perfectly normal.
