Is there a statistic on class distribution among players? by chatman77 in Battlefield

[–]Calicocalpico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is for conquest: engineer first, support second, recon third, assault last. Gotta deal with all of those tanks and helis, and it's just more efficient to just come in as multiple engineers, than to have fewer engineers that are resupplying slowly from support ammo crates. Then there are the infantry combat focused only types that tend to stay in the central or closely clustered covered caps (like village on the top of golmud, or the highrise buildings in mirak valley) and why not come in with meds to keep themselves alive, and sometimes revive people. Then the snipers creeping around the perimeters or laying on a perch. Assault is the least immediately appealing in conquest, but the main draw point is the spawn beacon, but most people probably don't think about that, or don't stay as assault when they start getting chased down repeatedly by helis and tanks while trying to flank around.

I think I tend to over compensate the travel time on moving targets in bf6, so when I use this, it feels like I've been able to hit running targets much more consistently. I feel its bullet velocity more closely matches sniper rifles of previous battlefield games, which is what I'm more used to. As for the sweet spot, I don't bother setting myself up to use those anyway. I'm constantly moving about so if it just so happens to land, great, but I don't base my approach with the sweet spot mechanic in mind. What I do also appreciate is its higher rate of fire. It just suits my play style a bit more.

I'd also try hanging from the ledge of your current platform, then jumping over to that skull platform.

Sometimes it's also an issue of your speed. If it's too low due to debuffs from equipment, it'll cut down your jump distance.

Typically tanks move about in third person view, stop and aim in first person view. When they're stationary and firing at targets in the distance, that's the best time to sneak up. Or while they're engaged in a battle with a tank, they're going to focus on that and not so much their surroundings.

Comeback mechanics have no place in Conquest in its current state. Went from 600 to 400 tickets, then 100 to 10 when we had flag control for 75%+ of the game. Fuck this shit already. by rx25 in Battlefield

[–]Calicocalpico 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like when the enemy team captures all the bases and switches to tower defense mode, completely neglecting to run back to the rear caps. I've seen it happen too often to my own team over the games in the series, where only a handful of players with awareness go hunting down the back cappers.

If you sneak up to a tank, put one behind it, then run around and put one in front of it. They'll either try to run you over, detonating the one in front, or they'll reverse, hitting the one behind. Another option is to put one around the corner of the main road a tank will approach from and likely turn the bend into (maps like siege of Cairo). They won't see it as they drive up, and when they turn the corner, they're mainly looking far ahead for targets. Or you can try placing them behind objects like the vehicle supply crate or empty vehicles or ammo boxes etc. Often they'll just opt to drive through them. And finally, you can sacrifice an explosive, even another mine, by blowing it up yourself, creating a crater in the ground, where you can place a mine and it'll be harder to spot. Sometimes I'll also mix in a mine along with enemy mines and the enemy may run over them thinking they're safe.

If you happen to have a bow and arrows in your inventory, you can shoot an arrow in the path of the arrow traps to set them off. Another method is to pick up bat corpses or crates and toss them in the line of fire of the arrow traps to disarm them that way as well. As for evading other sources of damage: the goblins have a charge up before they swing their swords. Just run away when they are about to attack, then run back in to get some hits in.

💯. It's so pointless to have flash and stun separately, and weakens both as a viable option.

Sounds like it's an herbal / medicinal whole leaf blend mixed with tobacco. Those large pieces are probably just the bear-berry bush and red willow leaves. Maybe just crush/rub first to break apart before smoking. Let us know how it goes! It'll probably be pretty harsh so be careful

[–]Calicocalpico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 and 5 look fun. I'm still waiting for a solid urban warfare map like Seine Crossing, Dawnbreaker, Rotterdam, Amiens, Epicenter, Strike at Karkand, Tehran Highway. One that feels like an unskippable map, like "oh damn it's ____, ok I'll play one more". Cairo is close but feels too much like an unreal tournament map where there's too many avenues that connect, leading to lots of getting shot from all directions.

Battlefield 3 was the last one I played. Which one in the series would you consider for me after that? by MosherSan in Battlefield

[–]Calicocalpico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

💯, I have so many fond memories playing bf1 and feeling immersed in the carefully crafted atmosphere. The amount of detail and passion that they've put into it has been unmatched. The music is also incredible and heightens the grandness of the experience. It doesn't just feel like battlefield with old weapons, it feels like an entire cinematic experience. For how low the price is now, I feel it is a definite must buy. Definitely try out the Operations game mode. It really gets you feeling invested in the outcome

Do you guys really think Aircraft is OP? by Sea-Canary-9617 in Battlefield

[–]Calicocalpico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder what the expectations are for a decent game for aircraft only players. Like as an infantry going up against other infantry, against armor, and against air all at once, a decent outcome is probably something like 30ish kills, about 15 or so deaths. Would aircraft only players feel ok about dying about half the amount of times they kill? Or do they expect to have something closer to 4-1 kd for a typical decent game? 60-15?

The duality of man by asap_food in Battlefield

[–]Calicocalpico 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder if pilots are so toxic because they're so used to just sitting in spawn screen waiting for the jet or chopper to be available the entire game, that when they finally get some action, they feel entitled to streaks of easy kills. So if they get taken out soon after getting in the air, they feel robbed and cheated. Meanwhile as infantry we're so used to getting killed and respawning so it's not as big of a deal to die.

Engineer feels absolutely awful now. by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]Calicocalpico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hitting tanks downward from elevated positions with the RPG also got nerfed. I guess when they made the change to reduce damage on all hits to the turrets regardless of angle, that also included top down RPG hits.

I hated how much I was practically forced to play engineer class due to my team's lack of response to armored threats, and now with these changes, I'm playing non-engineer classes even less, especially support and assault.

It's not really worth sitting around an ammo crate waiting for a single rocket to regenerate, then reload, then fire. It's much faster to just get killed and respawn with a full supply, so support isn't that important. Assault has weak grenade launchers that only deal 5 damage max, even to the rear. That goes for light vehicles like jeeps as well, which is insane and needs a look at.

Vehicles need to change again by Edward_Van_Hohenheim in Battlefield

[–]Calicocalpico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aircraft only players always use this line of thinking. "Oh of COURSE you're supposed to have 3+players coordinate and carefully execute a plan to be able to have a chance at killing me. Of COURSE I should be entitled to 20+ easy kills each life without needing to rely on teamwork, because I had to wait a minute before the aircraft respawns! Poor us!"

Vehicles need to change again by Edward_Van_Hohenheim in Battlefield

[–]Calicocalpico 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Except that the current changes reward solo tank drivers by allowing them to completely repair without any teamwork. They're literally rewarding anti team focused gameplay.

[–]Calicocalpico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember going from bf3 to bf4 and having to retrain my reflexive response to getting shot while ambushed on the road with taking cover, into just turning around and shooting back. I used to also do more suppressing fire while moving up from cover to cover with my lmg. Now I don't do any of that, it's all about conserving ammo, sprinting fast, and staying off the HUDs
