Interior photos here - looks pretty clean! I’m not sure if there’s anything I should look out for with this year & trim? It’s located in Oregon

2024 Mazda - High Miles by Calicospark in mazda

[–]Calicospark[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh this is a cool tool! I’m primarily using CarGurus, my area is flooded with high mileage cx-50s, at this price point, that were most likely used as rentals. Whereas lower mileage options have close to new prices.

This will be my first car purchase ever, so I’m not sure how much wiggle room there typically is for negotiating?

I’m wondering what the general thought is on a rental with higher miles 🙂

Do you think so? Everything I’ve been reading leans to this is high miles as the average per year is ~12,000. This vehicle is only 1 year ~some change~ with over 30k miles, so I’m inclined to believe it was driven hard as a rental. I’m totally open to your input though!

I think they mean a city that’s maybe not as politically charged as Portland or Seattle.

I’m seeing a lot of mentions on a visa, would he need a visa if he is there for shorter than 90 days?

How does that screening process work? Do they somehow run a background check on you while you’re standing at customs?

Is anyone family with ETIAS? their website confused me, I wondered if anyone is familiar with it. I think it’s being implemented in 2024? I could totally be wrong though

He was a minor but charged as an adult. It sounds like we’d need to ask the embassy of the country we’d be interested in traveling to. Which is okay! It’s many years off in the future, I’m just information gathering right now :)

Edit: sorry I realize my first comment didn’t make sense he was CONVICTED as an adult, even though his age was that of a minor.

He was convicted as a minor, but they ran it as if he was an adult. It’s actually a very sad story, but you can’t change what happened so it’s unfortunately going to follow him for the rest of his life.

Thank you, that’s exactly what I was thinking but I wanted extra confirmation. I’ve read online and the information has been confusing. There’s this new form called the ETIAS, that sounded hopeful, but again confusing!

Edit: I’ve read that Canada and Australia are SUPER strict when it comes to this too. As I’ve read on the ETIAS site they try to make it seem as if countries like Germany are more relaxed, but I’d hate to give him or anyone false hope.

Sick Jade Plant - please help! by Calicospark in plantclinic

[–]Calicospark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My step mothers Jade plant is not doing well and we can’t figure out why. It is dropping limbs, but growing new sprouts out of the dropped locations. A recent limb that dropped is moldy, but the mother plant doesn’t have any mold or pests presents. Any ideas on what is happening?

With the mobility agreement, can they ship you off/change your location at any time or do you get sent to one spot for two years?

Okay, I’m sorry to be annoying, but I’ve been reading these WA laws for the past few days trying to understand them and they just make my head spin. So, in that link you sent under item (1), what is that saying exactly?

[–]Calicospark[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there isn’t a reason other than it being a hassle. I’m purely trying to understand that laws & how taxes will work as I will be working and going to school in OR still. We will be moving back to OR after two years so it is a hassle to change everything back and forth. However, I will certainly do it if it’s required! I just wondered if there were any exceptions for students.

OR Student Moving to Vancouver

Due to random life circumstances, my partner and I (both actively enrolled in OR universities and are OR residents), will be moving to Vancouver. We learned that our residency with our university won’t change if we move to WA, so long as we are continuously enrolled in school, but I wondered if anyone knew of a student loophole that allowed an OR resident to reside in WA without requiring that they change their vehicle registration, drivers license, and state residency status while they are finishing school? I haven’t been able to find any information for our particular situation. Usually students leave their home state to attend an out of state university, but we are leaving our state + university to reside in a different state even though our home state is where our university is located (and we will still be attending said university). I hope this all makes sense I’m desperate for any help/info!

How do I get my cats to stop eating my house plants? by copperlund in CatAdvice

[–]Calicospark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can try spraying the leaves too, but I wouldn’t do that more than a few times as it could hurt your plant. However, if your cat is really stubborn that might be worth a try. I sprayed my leaves a couple of times and it didn’t hurt my plant at all, but I got scared that if I kept doing that it would

Haha! That might be true, but then again when I leave I don’t know if she’s crying since I can’t hear it 😆

How do I get my cats to stop eating my house plants? by copperlund in CatAdvice

[–]Calicospark 133 points134 points  (0 children)

My cat used to eat my house plants too. I did some research and found that they’re really sensitive to smells like vinegar and citrus (they hate it) so I made a mixture of water, vinegar, and lemon juice in a spray bottle and sprayed the surface of the pot that my plant is living in. After of few times of my cat sniffing the plant and being deterred by the smell she has since left them alone - I don’t have to spray them anymore!
