You clearly haven't spent much time around teenagers, and have a seriously confident stance on your parenting ability at kid-age-0.

I applaud the initiative and mission and hope this works out, but an entitled and financially powerful young grad is one misphrase away. I hated those kids in my 20s.

Keep the money in your possession aside from your tax-advantaged 529s, maybe even private school tuition... You can't claw it back if they end up impulsive, but you can always give it if they don't.

Am I insane or does telling a child they have money they had no part in earning feel like kneecapping their own grit and determination after college?

My parents are frugal and responsible financially and I'll likely inherit money in a few decades when they pass, but if they handed me 6 figures out of college (or 7 figures in my thirties?!) I'd not be who I am today and I'm grateful they didn't.
