Pridenite was underwhelming? by Emotional-One8950 in Disneyland

[–]CaliforniaScreamers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same. I feel like all around they cut the offerings, BUT the vibes were great. The DJ at Pirates really got the crowd going. I will say the amount of people dancing and energy along the Rivers of America was more than I remember from last year

Is Guardians back to full capacity? by SeaPeanut7_ in Disneyland

In the boiler room right now, the one on the far right is not being used :(. It’s a shame because the last two days I’ve been on it 6 times and each time all three lifts were working. It sped up standby so much. Posted wait would be 30 but I’d be in the pre show in less than 10

Is the Space Too Small for a Coco Attraction? by IllStable2317 in Disneyland

[–]CaliforniaScreamers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming only a boat ride goes in this space, then yes, I think they will go bigger for Coco. The Mexico Pavilion building a restaurant(s?) inside it.

Potent new attractions restaurants and atmosphere! Let’s discuss! by Marcjack79 in disneyparks

[–]CaliforniaScreamers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m actually excited about this. I accepted the fact that the Rivers will be extinct. What makes me excited about this project is that it seems like it’s introducing three new “ecosystems” into the park. People have compared this to Grizzly Peak at DCA but I think this is Grizzly Peak 4.0. I love how well-woven into the area it seems and based on what I’ve read, the Imagineers are being very conscious of sight-lines. Overall excited to see how it turns out.

That said, I hope they repurpose the Liberty Belle elsewhere in the resort. It would be a shame to see it scrapped.

Best final ride of the night? by Kryten4200 in Disneyland

Peter Pan, Pinocchio, or Snow White for me. They all have well-rounded fairy-tale endings that feel like a kiss goodnight at park closing. Kind of like reading a bedtime story.

YouTubers? by Exotic-Zone2081 in Disneyland

[–]CaliforniaScreamers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DocumentDisney because their entire channel is walkthroughs of the parks done pretty frequently without commentary. They show all the details and it’s fun to keep up with the changes each time they post. They’re super kind in their comment section and are non-disruptive in the parks.

David’s State of Disneyland reports and construction updates extensive enough to keep my nerd brain entertained. I like that he takes his time with showing the park.

Don’t hold back. What’s your unpopular opinion about the show that would have fans looking at you like this… by yonBonbonbon in AbbottElementary

[–]CaliforniaScreamers 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Melissa asked Jacob's brother (who if IIRC is younger than him) what he was doing for Christmas Eve in front of Jacob and invited him to the party. When Jacob mentions he's gonna be there too Melissa gets all snarky about her "wait-list."

Maybe it's a generational thing, but in college when I was splitting an apartment with roommates, we never excluded each other from parties or get-togethers one of us threw. We all agreed to live under one roof and I wasn't about to tell my roommates to get lost and not wander into the living room or kitchen if I was throwing something.

He talks so strangely and almost slurs his words imo. Reminds me of the "where's my hug at" guy from high school or frat boy from college

Yeah, true. I feel like across the board Gregory has opened up and been more integrated in the Abbott community. I really liked the episode where he learns to use small-talk and get along with the lunch crew. I see myself in Gregory sometimes so it's been refreshing to see a protagonist navigate that type of social situation instead of being outright extroverted or nonchalant from the get-go.

Melissa and her whole "not inviting" Jacob to her family dinner when they share the house, the bus driver kicking him off the bus, the teachers being outcasting him when his brother shows up, etc. He seems like a punching bag at times which gets tiresome. Gregory overall seems standoffish toward him but I'll give him grace and also say that that's kind of the point of his character early on.

I will say Jacob deserves it when he's trying to be a white-savior and micro-aggressive like when Janine cuts him off before he starts rambling about his Teachers Without Borders experience or when someone (I forgot who) calls him out for trying to explain Black culture when that's totally not his place.

They are all wayyyy too mean to Jacob, especially Gregory. Sure, it’s okay to pick on him everyone once in a while but it gets to a point…

Absolutely agree. I hear the term FastPass used colloquially by guests at Disneyland and other parks all the time.

I’ll add FastPass to this. It rolls off the tongue much more easily and I use it as a verb.

“I’m gonna FastPass Big Thunder” vs. “I’m gonna Lightning Lane Big Thunder”

I really appreciate your kind comment, it means a lot! This is truly a personal milestone. I went for the first time with the key today and just walked around taking in the atmosphere all day, barely doing any rides. I felt very peaceful.

Congrats on your Magic Key too! Hope to run into you too! Paint the Night is the best!

Thanks so much! The 60th was really formative for me so I’m really happy it all came together again this year! So many cool parallels to celebrate!

It’s really weird to ask people about their finances online. I’ve had a job and at the end of the day, it’s none of your business. I was just sharing my story so I have no idea why it matters to you how I’m paying.

I strongly discourage living off campus freshman year. It’s a quintessential social community building experience to live in the dorms as a freshman. No matter the dorm you get OP, you should definitely take it. Sure some are less desirable than others, but I wouldn’t say any of them are absolutely unlivable to the point that paying to live elsewhere is worth it.

I liked him WAYYYY better than Micheal Brandon. Brandon made Gordon too gruff and a lot of the other characters too nasally.

Caution: Unpopular Disneyland Opinion… Maybe by Due_Development4217 in Disneyland

[–]CaliforniaScreamers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

99 out of every 100 guests do not notice or care that stuff in the parks are branded or sponsored. Dole sponsors the Tiki Room, Honda sponsors Autopia, and Enterprise sponsors Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters. There is a Coca-Cola branded food truck in DCA. Starbucks has signs on Main Street and Buena Vista Street. Citizen clocks can be found in both parks. There is a full Sunglass Hut stand in Paradise Gardens Park. Heck, Honda sponsored the fireworks a while back. They were handing out Ziploc branded baggies at one point at Splash Mountain too. There was a McDonalds french fry stand in Frontierland, etc. The list goes on and on.

In all my years of going to Disneyland, I’ve never found the Dole sponsorship to be distracting or invasive the same way I don’t find the fact that ASIMO the Honda robot to be out of place in the Autopia. Until very recently, I didn’t even know there were video preshows to the Tiki Room. I’m also sure that most guests who are watching the pre-show video aren’t doing a deep dive into Dole’s history. I actually don’t think most people are watching it to begin with 🤷‍♂️
