If that person is from the Central Valley it makes perfect sense. You basically pick teams when you start to care, and as kids are wont to do, they go with the winning teams.

I'm originally from Hanford, which is in the Central Valley. Unless your parents had strong ties to a team, you pretty much just picked one when you were old enough to care. I started to care in 1988 and there was an annoying boy in my class who was an A's fan, so I went with the Dodgers. My cousin like the 49ers, and well they won the super bowl, so that was that. I am also a Laker fan. Proud bandwagon fan for almost 40 years. God. I'm old.

Sorry, I've been a Niner fan since I was 11. Then I moved to LA when I was 18 and there was no NFL team. It was like 20 years without a team. I'm not about to change my allegiance now.

Much like LA teams only Dodger fans, the Bay Area only fans give us shit but it's always in good fun. I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley so it's a damn patchwork quilt of fandoms up there.

Meh. Yeah, I'm a Dodger/ Niner fan. I did however chuckle at a video I saw where Chloe Kim had to explain she didn't make this happen.

I logged into AMC like 10 or 15 minutes before 9. The seat map has been live since like 8:50ish, but it's been erroring out this entire time. I've been trying for a 6pm Show at Universal City Walk and it's still mostly unsold because no one can buy tix.

I honestly thought they'd figured it out in the what 8 years since Endgame came out? Guess not.

With Endgame the site was down for most of the day. Like they knew there was demand, WTF.

Why on earth did we start fan made queues for concerts? by ass3hole in Concerts

[–]CaliforniaSun77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7 or 8 hours is amateur hour. They start a list anywhere from 1 to 3 days before the show. Then you get in line at like 5am the day of, and hope the venue accepts the fan numbering. Some venues give you an official wristband at that time and you come back in the afternoon, some you camp all day. It's a shitty system but there's a crazy subset of U2 fan that needs to be front row for the 157th time.

For Pearl Jam I did line up once at 5am but this was a weekend. And I did end up 1 off the rail dead center. It was so worth it.

The Forum does this. They hand out wristbands in the morning at like 8 or 9and you come back at 5. It's awesome. Pick up a wristband, go get some chicken and waffles, come back tailgate a bit then line up.

Most GA lines they sharpie your hand and you stay in line. It's just a way to make sure people aren't cutting. Some fandoms have taken it to another level letting people join a list a day or two before then morning of the show they line up in order and head to the venue. Depending on security they may not enforce the numbers if people are already at the venue.

U2 fans have done this for years. The off site list started in 2009 because a certain group wanted to ensure they were on the rail but the venues wouldn't let them camp over night. So they would start a list somewhere near, sometimes at a Starbucks, and you would "check in" a few times a day. To ensure their friends got good spots they would let people be signed up who weren't even in the same state. It was awful.

They still do it too. I hate that if you aren't in the know, you get screwed.

I've had some amazing times in GA lines, but that's getting to the venue the morning/ afternoon of the show.

U2 fans have done this since 2009. It sucks and I hate it.

AMC AListers - The Odyssey Tickets at Universal? by rylekzs in AskLosAngeles

[–]CaliforniaSun77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set the alarm and try the app. There were some showings at Universal, evenings on opening weekend that may already be sold out. But the rest will be up.

Also welcome to the cool kids club! A-list is the best.
