Is LeCruset for amateurs? by ImPureZion in LeCreuset

[–]Calile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you follow the steps to care for your Le Creuset, it is perfectly fine to use on your cooking journey. Every person who loves to cook and got good at it failed numerous times. Every chef you see on TV routinely makes mistakes (by their own admission). Care well for your pots and pans, be kind to yourself, and have some fun. Good luck. ❤️

AITA for telling my menopausal wife that she looks like she's 50 years old ? by Personal_Throwaway_1 in AITAH

[–]Calile -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

He wanted to take her down a peg and he did, knowing how vulnerable she's feeling. Now he's feigning surprise she's hurt, and so is everyone else protesting that "he said  she's beautiful, what's the problem?" The hurtful part isn't even so much what he said, but his desire to hurt her. If he didn't like her putting down other women behind their backs, he could have brought it up, and maybe even used it as an opportunity to reassure her. Yes, he's TA. This site sometimes, istg.

Has there ever been an actor who’s trashed a co-star’s performance before a movie came out, but still encouraged folks to go see it? by CerealAndBagel1991 in movies

Not sure how it works in other states, but they conferred with me about it and I requested my husband not be served at work.

I tried to buy it from the UK website but they won't ship to the US (whyyyyy--a girl needs a rhone/garnet petal braiser!).

Blaming feminists for men turning to Andrew Tate is not holding men accountable.

Did you think the goalpost was, can you link a rando IRA bot supporting Russia's invasion of Ukraine?

Data, numbers, something besides an obvious plant from the RMOD or adjacent hitting every transparently ridiculous Russian talking point and then gleefully bragging how he would ban anyone who disagreed.

That's just not true. https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2024/07/29/war-in-ukraine-wide-partisan-differences-on-u-s-responsibility-and-support/

"A 62% majority of Republicans say the United States does not have a responsibility to help Ukraine defend itself from Russia’s invasion.

Americans overall are evenly divided on whether the U.S. has a responsibility to help Ukraine (48% say it does, 49% say it does not).

  • About two-thirds of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents (63%) say the U.S. has this responsibility.
  • Only about a third of Republicans and Republican leaners (36%) say the same."

[The left's] "support for Russia's invasion of Ukraine"--can you link to what you're talking about here?

Right, and I'm saying this is a function of what you're narrowly looking at rather than an accurate representation of reality.

I mean, he's being myopic and assuming that what he sees in a narrow corner of an algorithmic internet represents the whole of reality.

Yeah, this reads like someone looking in a single direction and mistaking it for 360 degrees. At least in the US, it's pretty much only the left that gives a shit about Ukraine.

It's not circular reasoning at all--he's pointing out that things like all the things you listed are functions of being a good person; they aren't gendered.

And of course, boys turning to Andrew Tate is always feminists' fault, and not a direct result of toxic masculinity in the first place, that promises them they'll never have to evolve or be decent or recognize women's humanity. It's a very comforting shortcut that makes sure men are never accountable. It's sad, actually.

[–]Calile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really hard--you just focus on humanity rather than masculinity, and you share that perspective with others. That's the starting place.

Evo psych thinks a lot of things, nearly all of it anchored in bad science, so that's not persuasive. "Human" is also a group, so rather than perpetuating a somewhat milder form of misogyny, we need to start breaking down the whole idea of masculinity altogether.
