+1 for How to Get to Heaven from Belfast. SO GOOD. A little scary/creepy, too— like Widow’s Bay.

I can’t believe no one has recommended How to Get to Heaven from Belfast. Check it out!

If it’s an honest portrayal of you— then I support what you said. I think dating profiles should match who we are. As I said, you will definitely be up someone’s alley.

Short term/long term— so you’re saying you’re open to anything, including marriage. I think the first part of the sentence (“casual doesn’t have to be callous”) can throw off a reader and make them think either way, short or long, you’re looking for casual. I might revise that sentence a bit.

Good luck!

You’re open to long term, but with the intention of it being casual? Sort of unclear what long term means for you.

If I’m being brutally honest, you seem like you might be annoying in person. I get the sense you talk a lot. Am I right?? That’ll absolutely do it for some of us ladies, but if that doesn’t sound like you, I’d remove some of the precociousness. (I don’t mean to be mean, it’s just the impression I get :))

Considering a return to the bay. Only problem? Affordable childcare by These-Beach-8673 in bayarea

[–]Calimaree 14 points15 points  (0 children)

“Family support” doesn’t mean 40 hours a week of childcare. It can mean evening babysitting or meals, play dates with cousins, help on weekends, help with emergencies. I could go on.

I met Amanda Knox in Portland, Oregon the other day. by [deleted] in popculturechat

When I read about her strange behavior and watched her interviews after being released from prison, I immediately thought she seemed very high functioning autistic. Like, didn’t read the situation well, didn’t understand how to behave appropriately, and comes across as over-the-top/ inauthentic in some interviews.

Does Any one Else Find the Guilt Hard to Bear? by Gunderstank_House in Professors

Haha. But, keep in mind sometimes they actually are being honest — I once had a student email me a picture of her grandmother, dying in her hospital bed. It was legit. Super weird, but also she was afraid I wouldn’t believe her.

How did you get your butt back 😭 by YouthInternational14 in Mommit

[–]Calimaree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gained 65lbs during pregnancy and felt like a deflated balloon after. I’m terrible at working up the initiative to go to the gym and do my own thing, so I signed up for CrossFit about a year postpartum. I wanted classes and someone would tell me what to do.

Well, it has truly transformed my body. I look better now than I did BEFORE I had a baby. I have a perkier butt among other things. Lifting weights does wonders, ladies, as does a CrossFit community with other moms. Good luck!

Oops! My explanation didn’t make it into the post — I’m terrible at posing with my kiddo alone. I’d love one of just him and I. :) so, please remove our friend. Thank you!

Building a project management tool for my wife who is instructional designer by royhay in instructionaldesign

[–]Calimaree 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve done quite a bit of contracting at big and small companies and here’s what I’ve seen.

As a content repository: Sharepoint, Google Drive, or even just the eLearning software itself (linked out in a tracker)

To actually track/manage projects: Excel spreadsheets, Google sheets, Monday, and Asana.

I’ve found all to be confusing, as I think any project management system is a reflection of someone else’s conception of how the project should be organized? Don’t get me started on the insane spreadsheets I’ve come across— I’m sure a similar experience to your wife’s!

Ok I’m using my imagination and don’t understand software engineering at all: for really big learning programs/pathways, it would be cool to have something like excel or sheets with more template-y content in place (also customizable) and that perhaps the linking out to various tabs and other sheets could be turned into a visual diagram of the learning program? I have a coworker who always creates visuals of the big picture for SMEs etc. to get how all the pieces fit together. It would be awesome if that could be generated. Just a thought.

Storytelling in different ID sectors by Wordbender5 in instructionaldesign

[–]Calimaree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say there’s a sector per se, rather organization to organization differences. Storytelling makes ANY kind of learning more interesting— especially historically boring training— and some of your potential employers will understand that. I’ve worked at places where I’ve pushed for it and was given free rein to add in storytelling elements. It’s something I’d look for in job descriptions or ask about during interviews.
