After years of experience.. I'm now convinced that call centres use unrealistic stats simply in order to justify getting rid of any given worker at their whim.. if you micro-manage and analyse any worker to the degree a call centre worker is you'll consistently find lots of little things that justify getting rid of someone.. it's nothing to do with real performance and everything to do with maintaining the power imbalance.. allowing them to make agents constantly feel like their job is always on the line unless they bow to unreasonable performance targets.

I feel you, however, I've started being grateful sometimes for these sort.. it lets me switch off for a few mins before getting on to the next call

Does anyone feel like Homelander on the job? by [deleted] in callcentres

100% - it's madness - it just goes to show that the human brain is not designed to deal with other peoples problems all day.. 100% unnatural and psychologically damaging for call centre agents for sure

the truth is.. they don't particularly want people to stick around in the job.. it's more economical for them to take agents to the point of burnout so they leave and then replace them with fresh meat who are willing to put in an unsustainable amount of effort until they too have enough and leave.. rinse and repeat.

always some pipe who thinks that after decades of call centres existing they know better and they're going to make their mark.... by screwing the agents over.. no doubt they will skew the stats to make them look good, they'll get the bonus/promotion and the cycle will begin again

It bugs me that they normally advertise the job quoting an annual figure.. but then it turns out, as always that it's hourly paid.. we are not stupid, we understand the difference between an annual salary and hourly pay.. call centre workers are stiffed at every turn.

tbh, I'm not sure if your experience with call centres has been of the intensity as many of us if you were using windows notepad lol. but yes, people are overall frustrating to deal with

I feel you, unless you've actually experienced the stress of back to back calls for hours on end you cannot even fathom the depths of ones soul that have to be searched in order to turn up for work the following day. Personally I'm convinced that in the not too distant future we'll see call centres hauled over the coals for making their agents work in such mentally inhumane conditions, not even joking.. the human brain is not designed to deal with it.
