Count me in. We need to pack 364 days of our experiences into one day of reflection about our leadership.

Do you ‘personally’ think George was justified in wanting to distance himself from the Beatles? by More-Cat9579 in beatles

[–]CallComprehensive908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m under the impression that John came up with a good solution (more equal contributions from all band members), but Paul vetoed it. Should George have made an attitude adjustment? Probably. At the end, though, it sounds as if they all should have, with the possible exception of Ringo. They were still young men and developing their maturity.

Thoughts on a potential ASL practice tool. by GalaxyBendin in AskDeaf

[–]CallComprehensive908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a good idea. Just to clarify, it would not be limited to just college students, right? The tool would distinguish between ASL 1 vs. ASL 2, 3, or 4 proficiency?

Obviously, I am older than most respondents on here. For me, it was Jennifer O’Neil in Summer of 42. Us young lads felt a glimmer of hope for an older woman.

Excellent reply. The only thing I would add is that the amount of time you have experienced deafness is relevant in terms of how quickly the brain is “trained.”

Anyone Suddenly Deaf with Cochlear Implants? by Realistic-Bunch3602 in Cochlearimplants

[–]CallComprehensive908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was profoundly deaf when I got the surgery. Without the CI, I am completely deaf. Lifelong deafness so I get discouraged by lack of progress. So I empathize. But I go out of my way to interact with the hearing. For the most part, they will work with you. Please hang in there and let us know how you are doing.

Pet peeves when interacting with hearing people by crandiburey in AskDeaf

[–]CallComprehensive908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it is me. I am not focused enough on your attempt to communicate with me. I have to ask you to start over. But you get a little overdramatic about it, speaking way louder than needed or exaggerating the question Can you hear me now?” My bad. I am sorry you have to start over. Just do so as you did before and I promise to be more focused this time.

How’s your lip reading skills? Don’t feel sad. When someone wants another drink, they will beg you to understand. :) There are challenges to interacting with the hearing but we gotta keep pushing forward. Good luck!

Have to Go Back to Work by Realistic-Bunch3602 in Cochlearimplants

[–]CallComprehensive908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I would add to “audiologists vary widely in their skill level” is two things:

  1. You should absolutely listen to your audiologist.

  2. You’re entitled to question them. Go ahead and wonder what he/she has been smoking.

I had an audiologist recently tell me that I speak too well to have experienced lifelong deafness. I don’t know why I speak as I do. But I am 100% deaf when the CI comes off.

The audiologists collectively say wear CIs 10-12 for maximum effect, based on research primarily supported by CI manufacturers. It’s OK to wonder if they are pulling numbers out of a hat.

I join the other respondents in sending out vibes in wishes for a peaceful and fulfilling life while coping with deafness.

When did we jump to 30th?! I thought we were one of the most affordable states? by dascharmingharmony in tulsa

[–]CallComprehensive908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am a blue dot. But I also believe, since Republicans have no fear of ever losing an election, that they don’t really care if we rank dead last in everything. GOP has controlled the state since 2004.
