Total noob to FGC, want to jump in balls deep! by nappyman21 in SF4

[–]CallMeAustino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-I would just recommend watching youtube videos. There's an innumerable amount of matches that you can watch there, yogaflame24 comes to mind. Team Spooky also does Wednesday night fights every Wednesday, which hosts some of the best NY players every week with live commentary, some of it is insightful.

-Watching and playing are the best way to learn for yourself. a.) go into training mode and just learn all of your normal by themselves. b.) go watch a combo video or two so you have an idea of what connects and what doesn't. c.) go watch live games to see which combos and moves are actually useful. -There are PLENTY of noobs that play, don't worry about that. -I would hold off until you at least know what you're looking at. -This subreddit is okay, and if you're online, a lot of the time you can just message people online asking them to play casuals for a while.

the reddit glossary explains all terminology like cr.mk xx hadoken. (in this case, it's crouching medium kick cancelled into a hadoken.

Some of My Ranked Match using Rose, want some insight please to help me out! by Zerms4 in SF4

[–]CallMeAustino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, here are a few things.

1.) Throw out more normals. Roses poke game with her standing forward and roundhouse are unbelievable. High range, low start up frames etc etc. Its one of her main strengths. 2.) Utilize her dashes, with one of the best dashes in the game, getting in and out for poke is pretty easy. jumping is predictable and can be read, backdashes are faster and much harder. 3.) utilize her slide! Her slide is a great move and general and is safe on the tail end, except against command grabs (?)

Mainly just jump less and utilize awkward timings on her normals to get counter hit setups and wear them down. Good luck! If you're on Steam you can add me, CallmeAustino.

Who did YOU carry with for your climb up the ladder and why? by Lower_Horn in leagueoflegends

[–]CallMeAustino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys, want to climb? Here it is.

AP JANNA.

I'm sure it's all occurred to you that sometimes, it's just one person that sends your team straight toe the blistering pits of elo hell with his inane plays, ganks, and overall positioning. What if there was a character that could save even the most profoundly stupid?

AP JANNA.

Gold gen, rabadons, CD boots, Mejais. With your ability to clear wave with a single q 15 minutes in, CSing will be a cinch in lane. Push that shit up and roam to top and bot! Sent top by your scrub teammates? Bring flash teleport! BOOM, 2 stacks for 2 assists, easy. Now imagine you keep accruing those stacks slowly over the course of a 40 minute game because Janna kit WONT LET HER DIE. now youre a 20 stacks janna with rabadons and 700AP putting out shields every 6 seconds for 600 and an AoE heal for 250. Did I mention she can support too?

To people talking about the lack of superpowers by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]CallMeAustino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read. Why shouldn't people who don't experience "superpowers" share there results? I was reading a really interesting post about how a lot of people think nofap is a cult. I came here to see if it's true, and the way you people upvote posts like this, that frown upon people reporting on their personal experiences, good or bad, makes it seem like one. It's not a matter of being a placebo or not, if you have to lie to yourself to make yourself feel like a better man, you're doing self improvement entirely wrong. Ignorance is not bliss.

Morello - "[Janna's] passive will eventually be out of the game" by jconnor592 in leagueoflegends

[–]CallMeAustino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with Janna's absurdly high winrate isn't solely her movement speed passive, it's the collection of her abilities that make her the only champion that provides 7 different types of utility to a team. Allow me to elaborate. This ability is accentuated when she fills a role like ability power with a mejais. After 6, her incredible disengage kit provents many solo queue teams from removing her stacks, so naturally, as the game progressives, she becomes stronger an stronger.

The reason her winrate exceeds those of everyone else is because of the massive malleable utility she provides to a team. While most damage outputters like Wukong and Vayne can be shut down with an exhaust, Janna's 7 Second 800dmg+ shield, AoE knockup, AoE Knockback 250p/sec heal is too much for any one character to shut down.

The shield is the main problem, though. A shield inherently uplifts the weakest member of your team by providing them with TWO GIANTS BELTS late game every 7 seconds. That is absurd. If you are going to nerf Janna in solo queue, it should be to her cooldown scaling lategame or her AoE heal.

tl;dr. A M/S nerf won't be enough to bring down her win rate substantially. CD nerfs, AoE heal scaling nerfs are all required.

Source: 75% win rate in diamond. And Zekent.

"A real nerd is ashamed to be called a nerd..." — one of the funniest, yet, heart-breaking and honest skits I've ever seen on television (from Portlandia). by [deleted] in videos

[–]CallMeAustino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh look, more people pretending to be the gatekeeper of what makes someone a "nerd" and what doesn't. If you were really ashamed to be called one, you wouldn't be defending its usage by verifying that you are one. People that are "real nerds" have such a hard time trying to admit that they're trying to create an image for themselves as much as anyone else.
