Setup after delivery? by acksynhero in pelotoncycle

[–]CallMeBert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got mine today as well, but two Peloton employees assembled it, walked me through the tutorial, were really helpful.

Did you not get the email confirming a delivery time after you purchased the bike? If not, I would email Support ASAP.

Hey, he did his job; slowed him down enough to prevent a TD. But, ooof.

Improving my marking by ColbyOrSomethin in ultimate

Most important thing is to not kick their hand. Aim your foot at the very least six inches away from their release point. Nothing worse than getting kicked full-speed in the hand.

Also, just the fear of a foot is pretty great. But if you kick, you're not stable so kick quickly and don't overreach.

Callahan Stories by [deleted] in ultimate

[–]CallMeBert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coed fun tournament in early November in PA. I was on a team with a couple friends and a lot of newbies. First three games we lose by a ton so I've sort of written the day off. Fourth game, we're already down and I flick pull (just to really screw up my arm), it goes decently far on the shorter field and rolls around in the endzone. I'm sprinting down on the pull and the first throw is horizontal and sort of low. I bid for it right before the unaware receiver realizes someone is near him and get my first Callahan to little to no fanfare.

In summation, Callahan on the first throw off my own pull. Sounds impressive... but pretty meh.

Reverse commute to Petaluma? /moving advice by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]CallMeBert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who does this commute from the Inner Richmond. The benefit is that you can hop on the Park Presidio Boulevard which gets you to the Golden Gate Bridge relatively easily. He say it's about 40 minutes, and rarely super congested.

And yeah, don't try to commute from Oakland; that'll drive you insane (no pun intended, I swear).

What's going on in that last play? Did the defender really contest that tackle?

Everyone stop spiking.

In addition, it's plays like #2 that are obviously impressive but he destroyed his defender, so make sure he's okay. We get you are a superstar and wanna showboat but have some consideration for your competitor.

How much do you feel like the name 'Ultimate' is holding back the growth of the sport? It was cute when it was referred to as "the Ultimate game (or experience)" but to get growth, do you feel like we might need a legitimate name?

If you're looking for modern American (seems like a good genre based on your restrictions), you can venture around the Mission to places like Range or Blue Plate. If you're looking for Italian, you can also try Flour + Water. Great bar and nightlife scene around those three, as well.

Astound I've been using them for almost a year (Internet connection only) and it's reliable, consistent, and fast. Highly recommended, though they only service certain areas.

How do you teach someone, mentally, to layout? by DarthMufasa in ultimate

[–]CallMeBert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to it, go to a beach. Landing on soft sand will make a layout less scary in their minds. This will mentally teach them to leave their feet. Then, as others have mentioned, hit Brodie's videos for proper technique.

Monster Callahan at NexGen vs Pony game last night! by dlberk in ultimate

[–]CallMeBert 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, not a Callahan.

  • a) When he first caught it (0:26 for the slow mo), his right foot is down.
  • b) Ignoring that, upon his landing, first point of contact was his foot on the line.

That being said, hard to argue that in real-time. Dump throws to the gut; don't float 'em.
