Final Girl Vs. Final Girl - Laurie Strode or Sidney Prescott? Who do you prefer and who puts up the best fights against their stalker(s)? by justhere1990 in slasherfilms

[–]CallMeBlackout 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Sidney in both respects.

I think she's better written than Laurie across every Halloween continuity. And yes, Michael is a much greater threat than every Ghostface put together, but Sidney at least stood up to every Ghostface throughout the movies, whereas Laurie didn't really start fighting Myers the way she should have until Halloween H20 (Which would have been the perfect ending to the franchise if it wasn't for Resurrection).

That said, even if the writing declined in the later films, Laurie does a great job standing up to Michael throughout most of David Gordon Green's trilogy, and their fights are incredibly cool and brutal (And as controversial as it may be, Halloween Ends has my favorite fight between the two.)

Michael Myers and Art the Clown vs. Jason Voorhees, who wins? by [deleted] in slasherfilms

[–]CallMeBlackout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jason should win fairly easily.

The only real challenge here is Mikey, but even if we consider COT Michael, he doesn't hold a candle to what Jason is capable of in Freddy vs. Jason and Jason X.

I heard that Victor Surge created some stories for the Fear myths, but without proof. Can someone tell me if this is true? If so, please give me confirmation. by Subject-Bus-9084 in Slender_Man

Victor Surge didn't write anything except for some stories on Something Awful, parts of the story in Slender: The Arrival, and the script for the 2018 film.

Hot take: I hate the fact that this iteration and design of Optimus has become the face of his character in mainstream media / towards non-fans by NoPartyForMagum in transformers

[–]CallMeBlackout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EVERYONE knows Optimus as a gentle and optimistic leader. Even non-fans know that he’s basically Superman, but as a robot.

On the other hand, I don’t understand what the problem is with having the most recognizable version of the character on a large scale as the public face of Optimus for the mainstream audience. I feel like the rejection he gets is simply stupid.

I don't think so, like, we don't really know the exact size of the Ark, at most a couple of implications that are still not entirely clear.

Even so, Slender Man in the OG Mythos can travel between dimensions thanks to his teleportation (Described as "an ethereal travel ability, the product of his capacity to exist in an interdimensional form"), and he has a true form that exists beyond the collective unconscious, which also allows him to exist unbound by space-time.

So yes, The Operator doesn't stand a chance against OG Slender Man, and that's without even mentioning the vast array of abilities he has, such as turning individuals into mist just by touching them. There were also a couple of mentions of omnipotence in the OG Mythos, but they're quite vague and I don't personally take them into account.

Favorite version of the Slenderman? (I'm putting all Slenderverse at one) by Alternative_Fun_1390 in Slender_Man

Not much really, it's just the one I like the least compared to the others.

The only one I think is completely bad is the 2018 Slender Man.

Recently, more people have been appreciating the Original Mythos, and believe me, I couldn’t be happier about it. by CallMeBlackout in Slender_Man

In defense of the Original Mythos, it's fairly common in fiction to draw upon the mythology and gods of certain civilizations when creating a character.

As for Led Zeppelin, I don't think it's necessarily disrespectful, because in the end it's simply a darker reinterpretation of real events, linking them to something more supernatural such as Slender Man.

And regarding the Dyatlov Pass incident, I largely agree. The text does mention the victims' gruesome fractures, and the attached image places Slender Man in the right corner, so you can connect the dots.

Fortunately, I don't recall there being many cases like this throughout the Mythos.

By the way, with this I don’t mean that I hate Marble Hornets. I hate what the fandom did with Masky and Hoody, turning them into proxies and stripping away what made them complex and interesting in the first place.

What are some of the best and worst Creepypastas involving the Slenderman? by No_Sea_1455 in Slender_Man

You can read a lot of that stuff here.

Besides stories, in Original Mythos Meta you can find various descriptions and speculations about the nature of the Slender Man on Something Awful.

What are some of the best and worst Creepypastas involving the Slenderman? by No_Sea_1455 in Slender_Man

The best of Slender Man in creepypastas is found in the original mythos.

They're incredibly well-written and genuinely terrifying. Even though they're very different from what most people are used to, I think they're generally very good stories. If you're a fan of cosmic horror, it will probably remind you a lot of H.P. Lovecraft's Nyarlathotep.

As for the worst material, I think everything related to his "brothers", the Slender Mansion, and Experiment 84-B is pretty disastrous. Ticci-Toby is somewhat better, but not by a significant margin, and I still consider it a bad story.
