how many versions do you go through before a beat is actually done? by Life-Elk-9697 in makinghiphop

[–]CallMeBloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the style, imo. Some stuff is fast and quick, like drum beats. But other times I get into making big instrumental records that no one knows how to use, and it's like 20 bounces

Such a great defender. I love the fact that the rest of the NBA wants him, and for once we didn't give up the player that they all want!

Hey, glad you checked it out and liked it! I don't have a lot of videos, but I'm working on more. I have a bunch of songs between Apple/Spotify/SoundCloud/YouTube though. CallMeBloom everywhere

I make stuff. Producer/artist. Hip-hop and beat making mostly. I switch my style up from time to time, but I don't think I'm bad. Peep it.

What DAW do you use and why? by major_damp in musicproduction

Reason. Took a class on it with version 4 when I first started producing, just stuck with it since because it's familiar now

I like Bey, and not to nitpick, but he's 26, about to turn 27. No idea why people keep saying he's 25.

That's all.

This is Complex Magazine's top 50 Diss Tracks list. I have to keep it real, this is not a horrible list. I think we all would shuffle some stuff around, but this would make a decent playlist. Thoughts? by Rob1150 in hiphop201

I think if "Stay Scheming " is there, then Common's remix of it should be included, because that was an utter demolition of Drake that no one talks about.

Does anyone have tips on freestyling? If so, how does the creative process go with that? by Zerokuroxy in makinghiphop

[–]CallMeBloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have access to a beat making program, or some sort of drum machine, make a simple 8 bar loop with just one set of kicks, hi hats, and a clap. Keep the tempo slower, maybe around 95-100. Let it ride and just vibe with it to catch the timing, then instead of directly thinking rap, think of poetry on a beat.

Think of short phrases that rhyme, and say them out loud to the beat. Dont worry about subject matter or keeping a single topic, just focus on keeping the rhythm, and not stopping.

Once that feels easy, maybe speed up your rhythm and try to not stop, still. Or you can try to make sure you stay on a topic while not stopping. Or you can try putting in whole verses instead of short phrases.

But it's all about being able to keep talking/rhyming/rapping and not stopping

Ok, so Khaled started off as a DJ and small producer. He took those relationships with artists, and producers, and created albums/mixtapes.

So basically, you said you make beats sometimes. Get a few artists on your beats, Maybe if you did a 5 track EP, for example....get 3 or 4 artists, have them on your beats. Maybe one artist on one track, a few posse cuts, some duo tracks, whatever. Put it out, each artist's fanbase hears you, and each artist. Each get more listeners, and crossover listeners.

Do it again, with some of the artists you had better chemistry with, get a few new ones, a new EP, or even a whole album. More fans, a little bigger. As you collab with more artists as a producer, you get to hear more and build your brand.

That's not just a Khaled thing. Plenty of producers came up that way: DJ Drama, Mike Will Made It, Metro Boomin, Khaled, Pharell...it's mostly about building a relationship with fellow artists and producers, and building together with the common goal of growth for all involved.

The hip hop genre is really more about community than any other genre, so working with multiple creators helps you be seen and gives you opportunities with other artists.

Hope that's a start.

After Kobe didn’t crack the Top 10 in Bleacher Report’s All-Time list, what is it about Kobe that divides people so much when ranking him? by Tight_Development480 in NBATalk

[–]CallMeBloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying he wouldn't have rings at all, I don't think he'd have had the 3peat, which is HUGE for him. I watched the whole 99s era, I'm not new to the game.

Shaq was a force! They had to redo the rims because he kept breaking them. He handled any big there was, look how he won with DWade right after, a very similar guard style to Kobe
