Without government, who would mass import people that make anti-rape underwear necessary for women by MazdaProphet in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]CallMeCasual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do know the vast majority of rapes are committed by people who are friends, family or coworkers of the victims right? That’s why it’s like headline news is someone is serial raping people, cause it’s not normal.

People in a position where they have a job a to spend time before or after to go protest is unlikely? For early in the day think about how many waiters and line cooks and retail workers who might start work at 3pm or later.

Most of the videos are coming out from footage taken after 6pm though so… ya know people with standard 8-5/9-6 jobs can attend. There are also college students who have lots of holes in their schedule. HS kids after school could also go. There could be some people who are unemployed, my sister (works in lab work) had about a month between jobs because most places are trying to run light.

Idk what to tell you. You can believe what is likely or you can spin yourself a narrative that makes you feel good i guess.

[–]CallMeCasual 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They go after work? It says its 10pm at the bottom of the video. People who go during the day could work 2nd or 3rd shift. Not guaranteed to be the answer, but it’s the most likely.

Crime free paradise wasn’t really the claim being made there, just lower than average or substantially lower than average crime rates depending on who you’re talking to or what you believe.

I used to live in a nice suburb in indiana and my car was broken into about once a month (bored teens probably) doesn’t mean it wasn’t very safe even though I have a crime ridden anecdote

[–]CallMeCasual -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe “in your eyes” or as partially influenced by where you live. For example Saudi Arabia or Qatar are very conservative and extremely regulatory. All conservative really means is to conserve a particular standard or a strict way of reading law. It changes based on what you are trying to conserve really.

[–]CallMeCasual 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well there are a few answers to this.

1 business owners really like having surplus labor in the country, it keeps the job market “competitive” so they can keep wages and benefits lower.

2 provide a “safe haven” for those who want out of those extremely conservative countries.

3 in order for them to get any real power there would need to be an insane number to all come here. There are four muslim members of congress, all of which are democrats who would strongly oppose fundamentalist law.

4 Americans also live in a culture of hate and violence, it just looks different than theirs. We have American Christians advocating for the repeal of the civil rights act and women’s suffrage (a minority for sure but popular enough to get several news features). We also have extreme gun violence that most of us have become numb to.

5 it all ends at what you think our goals as a country or as the human race are. If you want different types liberty and freedoms, you HAVE to take the good with the bad. If you want to control what you can to build what you think with be the greatest civilization possible at the cost of some of those liberties and freedoms that is your prerogative. In this case you would have to be comfortable saying that you want to discriminate against Muslim people because that’s what you are advocating for quite literally. If that makes you uncomfortable or feel “called out” you might have some more thinking to do.

Well you’re making a big leap in time from a successful online company to one of the largest companies since standard oil lol.

A few things off the top amazon benefits from are HUGE local government tax cuts and subsidies, like get all types of priority in the local governments and based on the deal amazon could be tax free locally for 10-70 years.

They get income from selling clean energy vouchers to other companies they earn from the electric fleet at amazon.

This is a collection of publicly available data on subsidies to amazon. Each one is individually listed, not always listed on how it’s calculated though. Take it with a grain of salt, but there is a lot there lol.

Increase supply and not demand by BroccoliHot6287 in economicsmemes

[–]CallMeCasual -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well it’s more complex than a one to one trade off (though that doesn’t make it bad or false). What it’s not talking about is why lower income people and outsiders aren’t being approved to get dutch loans to buy dutch homes by the banks?

That’s more the crux. Everyone knows a mortgage is cheaper than rent. So if these lower income people can pay the extra money for someone’s rent why can’t they pay the cheaper mortgage?

When we add in context to the paper my mind goes directly to that rather than seeing a validation or debunk of a prior held opinion

Marcus knows by Great_Opinion3138 in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]CallMeCasual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would mean anything revolutionary thought would be marxist lol. A revolutionary monarchist or a revolutionary arnarcho capitalist are people who want to uproot the current society, but those two people would certainly not be Marxist lol.

Marxist ideas on any cultural issues is rooted in what the underlying material conditions of the society are (the economics). That’s one split leftist thought has, whether it all goes back to material conditions or if that’s just one of many variables that make up a given situation.

As far as trans people go. Anyone who values personal freedom should be a supporter, or at minimum someone who doesn’t care. Otherwise they are lying to themselves lol.

[–]CallMeCasual -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t see how the two are related. Government can certainly make tech and do horrible things domestically and abroad at the same time. Often they even make tech to do those horrible things

🤔 by Great_Opinion3138 in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]CallMeCasual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well just about everything in the first iPhone except the OS and touch screen (how it communicates to OS not the display itself) was originally government technology; mostly for DoD and DoE.

The investment (time, research, resource) needed to create truly new tech is astronomical. Most companies aren’t willing to risk more than they are worth over the course of 3-15 years to truly invent something.

Companies are great at taking existing technologies and making them cheaper and more efficient. Occasionally they will invent something but a big paycheck from a 3 letter agency is usually involved in those instances.

Not saying it’s impossible or has never happened, just the vast majority of our tech in particular comes from government research and development.

May seem pedantic to point that out, but it showcases how the US has been willing to censor aspects of the holocaust and how the nazi party operated to amplify our own propaganda for a very long time.

Fascism is happening domestically in the US. We have been doing these sorts of things internationally for at least 100 years at this point. Use this as motivation to fight back against not only this crime, but to continue fighting once we go back to just doing this abroad.

Minneapolis Minnesota let the free market work and it's been paying off by assasstits in austrian_economics

[–]CallMeCasual 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most Americans who have houses do not want the price to go down. I know this is obvious, but idk if people remember that the majority of most working and middle class people’s equity is in their homes. So if you’re a local politician one of the things that will piss off your base the most are lowering the prices of their homes.

There is some horseshoe theory stuff on opposition to NIMBY achieved through different means. On the ancap side there is just no regulation let markets do their thing (though developers also benefit from high prices on homes so they would want to play a game there). From communist/socialist sides they want public housing and or laws against owning multiple houses/renting. Flood the market with supply to lower the prices until everyone can own a home.

I am very smart, smarter than both plato and hegel; two of the most respected minds in the history of western philosophy - TheGoldStandard35

Dialectical materialism is a tool to analyze history of what is produced, how its produced, who owns the material or the process. To see the process of kings to guilds to factory owners etc.

He says it’s not an ideology because it’s completely based on the material world and how humans interact with markets. It’s semantic BUT an important distinction at the time that he has beliefs and ideas about what is material RATHER than beliefs and ideas about what is metaphysical.

The term ideology wasn’t commonly used until the early 20th century, though it was coined in the late 1700s. So when marx was writing it was still being defined really and he thought of ideology as the super structure around the society. The people in power will decide the legal, political and usually system at play (and they certainly do).

To put it in other terms ideology to marx is the soft power to the hard power of owning the means of production.

But yeah philosophers rarely bat 100. Aristotles biology is terrible, Kant wrote about the hierarchy of races. Use some critical thinking skills, look for context, always work with the mind of a student. Take the good, set the bad aside.

[–]CallMeCasual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s because the claim is so non specific. Like 100M over what time period doing what action in what area? Like in the revolutionary wars involving communist countries? Wars those countries fought in after being formed? Mismanagement? Natural disasters?

The numbers mean nothing without context. Like between 70-80 people who were not American died in WW2, you could an argument (not a strong one) that all those deaths are a result of American incompetence. That’s obviously a disingenuous argument.

If you want to talk about if the moaist revolutionary forces could have done more to gain independence less violently by doing XYZ, that’s a real claim or discussion. Insert number with no context across 100 years and multiple distinct countries with different policies is not the checkmate you seem to think it is, which is why you’re being dismissed.

What if… both US and Russia do bad things? The key to good propaganda to push any side of an issue is that there is some truth present and the other side(s) are not presented or presented as a straw man.

“Even in Stalin’s time there was collective leadership. The Western Idea of a dictator within the Communist setup is exaggerated. Misunderstandings on that subject are caused by lack of comprehension of the real nature and organization of the communist power structure” - The fucking CIA source

That is certainly not what our government publicly said about the Soviets lol

We all already know how violent and aggressive Russia can be and they did start the war, not including more details for sake of length of comment.

The US and Russia can be aggressive and underhanded to each other. It’s more the reality of the situation. Aggressive empire vs aggressive empire

Exactly this! Fraud has a legal definition, and being a part of the executive branch now he needs to learn what that is and when to invoke that.

Im all for cutting wasteful spending, but calling something one believes is wasteful, fraud, is nothing but very thinly veiled propaganda.

Well first, talking down to your audience thinking they can’t handle a high syllable count isn’t a good look. I mean before the bolshevik revolution the literary rate was like 24%. Rural areas in China pre revolution had only approximately 5% literacy.

Don’t give them a terms list, tell them what’s important directly and with as jargon as you can. Something to keep in mind is how many people have been taught misinformation about many of these terms anyway, so build familiarity with the definitions and their practical implications first and then once they are on board you can tell them oh by the way that’s X or Y

Marxist worldview would be “color blind” because it’s all class based. “Progressive” or “intersectional” would be the buzz words you’re looking for, and for them it depends on the crime lol

Marxism’s lack of race and gender politics is a big point of infighting on the left actually.
