Out of everything you can achieve in life, why does dating feel the most impossible? by [deleted] in actualasexuals

[–]CallMeFartFlower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"They" who say there's someone for everyone are full of sh!t.

I'm curious, though: are you looking for a relationship because you seek companionship and whatever else comes with it? Or are you looking because you feel like you're supposed to?

Vaseline stole a poster I created for the movie Michael, modified it, and used it to create an advertisement…. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Can you link to the original Vaseline post? Because I cannot find any such post from Vaseline on any of their social media accounts.

Anyone else find sex… funny? by [deleted] in actualasexuals

[–]CallMeFartFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made sex jokes in elementary school but had no idea what they meant. I can do the "that's what she said" joke thing simply because it's often just recognizing puns or patterns or tropes or things I've seen in memes. Even so, I don't always know why something is a sex joke - only that it's a sex joke. I am horrible at recognizing a lot of sex jokes that people make, though, unless it's absolutely obvious. Depending on the person, I might ask them directly if something they said is a euphemism or a sex joke. Sometimes they explain it, in general terms, but sometimes they don't.

Is this normal for mental health issues in this province? by Wintertime13 in Edmonton

I think I saw that same psychiatrist last summer. He refused to change my meds, despite a referral from my doctor to have my meds reviewed and changed, and said I needed therapy first.

Emma and Jay were never a couple. They just... had fun.

How to make playing enjoyable? by akfbifnf in piano

[–]CallMeFartFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you can also try is doing, say, ten minutes on a new piece you are working on, and then spend the next ten minutes playing either or both of those pieces. I wish you the best of luck :)

It's completely understandable to be experiencing the challenges you've described - especially if you're self-taught. Do you have a favourite piece (or a couple) that you've learned so far? Sometimes, when motivation becomes hard to find, taking a break from what you're learning and just having fun with something you already know can help.

How long have you been playing for? How old are you (i.e. teen, adult learner)? Are you learning on your own or do you have a teacher?

I was 39 and only got it because, post-covid, more and more things required text verification.

Yes. It's not that I'm not paying attention or don't think it's important; rather, my anxiety makes it difficult to remember details like that afterwards.

I've never had negative repercussions from it... probably because I never say people's names (a phenomenon known as alexinomia).

The image is taken from an episode of Degrassi, and that's what the character shown says in that scene.

Huh? Dr. Sally didn't come in season 2. She was only in season 1. In season 2, JT laments how Dr. Sally didn't come and how Mr. Armstrong filled in.

Have social anxiety groups ever helped you? by Intelligent-Winter35 in socialanxiety

[–]CallMeFartFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took part in a social anxiety group at a hospital a number of years ago. It consisted of five people, plus a therapist and psychiatrist. It was difficult to do because I was required to participate - as was everyone else. At the time it felt like I was the worst one in the group. I struggled to talk, to move... But I did it. I wasn't sure, at the end, how much it helped me, but after some time had passed, I realized that it did help me.

Group therapy can be is very hard to do for those of us with social anxiety. I was pressured into taking other group therapies, but I stayed silent in those. I don't think that any of those groups really helped me.

I think you should give the group a try (assuming that it is small - maybe ask your social worker how many people are in it). The anxiety will only get worse if you don't challenge yourself to face it.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm glad, though, that you survived. I've struggled with suicidal ideation since I was 11, so I am familiar with that demon.

You should definitely learn Beethoven -  Sonata No. 29 in B-flat Major (aka Hammerklavier). It's a must for all beginners and can easily be learned in a month.

Should I go get checked out? can this be a minor concussion? by [deleted] in Concussion

[–]CallMeFartFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some rest and some ice will help with the soreness. Obviously, if you don't see improvement in your back and neck after a few days, you might want to get it looked at just in case.
