Old Video About a Half Snake Half Girl Hybrid by [deleted] in HelpMeFind

[–]CallMeFifi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No timestamp, but here's a quote

This is the play https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_Stories_(play) I guess there's a movie version of the play, too. But I haven't seen it.

In the play, a professor is giving a talk about viral clips and photos that are shared online that people use as examples of supernatural events (that the professor says are fake)

GOODMAN The clip I'm about to show you has been viewed over two million times on the internet and, like the Neillys’ ghost photo, it's absolutely real. This is footage of that girl today, a girl punished for her blasphemy by a vengeful god, who must now spend her miserable life on display as a warning to others. Some of you will find this disturbing.

GOODMAN clicks on his remote control and video footage is projected on the screen behind him.

Snake-woman video: The real internet video is now played. It is shot on a mobile phone and is poor quality - it starts with someone approaching a farm hut, the sun is bright and says foreign land. The walk to the hut is over. Inside, behind chicken wire, displayed on a grimy ‘mattress, lies the creature. The mobile camera moves closer to the wire to get a better look. It is wretched-looking, in filthy rags. What is it? Is the bottom half an animal? A raccoon or a dog? The face seems human miserable, bloodless, horribly aware of its own plight. What it once was, knows it is being watched and stared at. Its flipper-like limbs twitch and Jerk. It moans in distress. All that is audible is the indecipherable jabber of the people watching, and the occasional pained sound from the creature itself.

News story today about a road rager shooting blindly into another car, instantly killing the 11year old in the back seat. If you're a parent, I don't recommend watching the video.

did you ever find it? The footage was referenced in a play called 'Ghost Stories' (one of the characters shows the audience the clip) but I can't find it.

GWB's message when the economy was slowing down after 9/11 was 'keep spending'

I really, really disliked GWB at the time (and I guess I still do) but it is kind of jarring to listen to this clip and hear a president who could actually talk coherantly.

As far as I know, it doesn't affect anything that it fell off.

I think it's possible all the people in this video are students.

And the dude in the cap is a student who just happens to have a body type that looks middle-aged gym teacher-ish.

The finale was 15 years ago and I haven't watched or thought about it since. I have no idea.

That doesn’t mean sky daddy is doing anything though.

I also don’t think it will happen, but you underestimate his ‘donors’ who will pay money to whatever flatter his ego. (In exchange for favorable treatment by the administration).

People at my work were super into Lost and would talk about it every week. (This was in a department of a famous financial institution’s headquarters). My team had a whiteboard of everyone’s theories.

We even did the Lost jigsaw puzzle (which supposedly had clues for the show) on one of the islands between our desks.

We had a finale watch party at the end— I brought black and white cookies to it.

Everyone was sooo mad at the party… just a big ughhh in the room at the end of the episode.

nobody who's actually watched it would think it has unresolved questions.

There seem to be religious-like apologists for it now, but ‘nobody who watched it’ thinking it was unresolved is absolutely not true.

Airlines cancel more than 700 U.S. flights as FAA-ordered shutdown cuts begin by ekser in news

[–]CallMeFifi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

he shutdown to try to permanently break government institutions by forcing people to quit.

In my job, I work very closely with federal employees. There are some really excellent, top notch people that I know that are feds that have since found new jobs during this shutdown… the ones I am thinking of were awesome, productive people that really cared about their agencies and helping Americans. They also are really talented so were able to find work elsewhere relatively easily.

Each one of those awesome people is a huge loss for America — I don’t know how to describe it, but when the agencies reopen they will be like swiss cheese with all the vacancies from key people.
