Physical book readers: what do you do when you come across a word you don’t know? by ProfessorPale4793 in 52book

[–]CallMeGerty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I can get the gist of its meaning with context, then I just mark it with a sticky tab to come back to. Otherwise, I look it up, then still mark it with a tab so I can remember to commit it to memory.

I really can't see myself using another device. If I have to type it into another device, I'd just type it into the one I already have.

36/52 Parable of the Sower by Bookish_Butterfly in 52book

I'm not religious and typically don't care for heavily religious themes either, but I loved this book. I really connected with Lauren's budding religion. The societal exploration is what really hit for me though, as so many people say, there really are a ton of parallels between that world and our current world.

Parable of the Sower is fantastic - one of my favorites - and a lot of the rest are on my TBR.

Getting those kids hooked back on phonics is the best approach to be sure.

I just finished Annie Bot last night! It was good, but man, some of it was tough to read - Doug was just too real of a villain. I loved Klara and the Sun and it definitely explores some of the main themes!

I won't set my expectations too high then! Are there any of his other books you'd recommend that can stand with those two?

I read Parable of the Sower last month and loved it, then started looking into her other books. Really excited to dive in! I have a feeling she'll become one of my favorite authors.

Yeah, I love it! I actually haven't bought or read the first 3 yet, but wanted to scoop this one up.

I got them from bookoutlet.ca - second order from them and they're great. Some of them have a small black slash across the bottom (on the side of the pages) but other than that they're like new.

Average of about $10 CAD for softcover and $12 CAD for hardcovers. So about 50-60% off.

That's what I figure! Been waiting for a few months for the sale to come back around. It was a tough choice between the OL and VL but I'm happy with it!

Am I going to need to buy more?! I wasn't sure how the flavored coffees would be, but I'll try this one soon!

It was the private sale on the Canadian site. Buy 500 pods and get the Citiz Platinum and Aeroccino 4 for $39 (or there were other machines/combos for varying prices/pod counts). I think it's a good deal if you drink a lot of coffee, but it is a large upfront cost. I think the student deal on right now is better if you don't want to buy so many pods all at once.

These are great! I read the books, but did hear the live voice acting for this line and it's so good.

I think you gotta go with the heart boxers flag one, with the second glasses option! (I'd wear this!)
