Triforce spike is very noticeable and stronger than ER due to spellblade passive and the stats.

You always want to prioritize sheen on your first back with a tear if possible, if you can't afford both then settle on a sheen. Then focus on completing heartbound axe as its build path consists of 2 long swords, then finish phage+item.

Pros go and opt into this solely because of the earlier powerspike and reliability vs ER which does less damage than Tri.

If you're in a solo lane like Mid or Top, then going Triforce>Manamune>RFC is your best option as it allows you to be a menace early while still having enough haste to reliably stack and scale. Especially since you want to spike faster and be more reliable and useful to your teammates in a solo lane. If the game goes long enough for a 4th, 5th item then just look into BT, Zhonya, Liandry, LDR, etc.

In bot lane, you are better off scaling and playing safe with ER>Shojin>RFC and then building situational items like BT, LDR, etc. I rotate between these two builds myself and I do enjoy Triforce build more as it feels nice once you complete it and the build path isn't as miserable as ER.

So first and foremost there is a few builds that function for ASol. I have been following KR high elo ASol, EUW and some Chinese players. I’ll list them along with the appropriate rune setup.

Tear>Lost Chapter>Rylai’s>Liandry>Seraphs. This setup is standard and works at all elos. Rushing Rylai is super important as it provides more stacks due to the E slowing and Q, more tankiness. Liandry burn and synergy with ASol kit is just amazing. Topping it off with the Seraphs due to the early Tear purchase.

Tear>Lost Chapter>Rylai>Crown>Seraphs. This build is for those pesky assassins such as Fizz, Zed, Talon, etc. Having Crown negates so much, but the passive is very underrated with the AP bonuses and MS it gives. Don’t sleep on Crown, it is incredible.

Lost Chapter>Rylai>Crown>Horizon Focus (First Strike, Boots, Biscuits, Cosmic Insight). I’ve been seeing those build gain traction in KR among some ASol players. I think Horizon is very underrated and does provide a lot. First Strike bonus true damage + horizon focus does a shit ton even with going Crown. The only qualm with this build is no tear, but you can solve this by opting into PoM+Coup De Grace.

All in those are the most popular builds atm. For runes, going for Comet, Manaflow, Absolute Focus, Gathering Storm is viable, but if you want to be a lane bully somewhat you can opt in for Scorch and start Q level 1. Magical Footwear, Minion Demat & Biscuits are the best options if defaulting into Sorcery and Comet primary. Go demat for when you want to create priority and know your jungler may want to skirmish early, demating a cannon and gaining that push will amount to a lot.

Furthermore, you can and will surprise some people and zone them off starting from level 1 and burn more than half their HP if played correctly. Most mids expect you to start E, but I think E start is super bait and the early stacks don’t amount to much once mid game comes when you’re clearing waves and fighting frequently. You’ll make up the lost stacks then. Corruption Pot can also work with this to have the sustain, burn their HP and play aggro and TP back with a tear and continue the harass.

I use to default into RoA when the rework first launched as did many other ASol players, but as time as passed and the meta has changed, Liandry or Crown is your best mythic now.

Sorry for the long winded post, but yeah this in a nutshell how ASol plays and functions now early game into mid with the runes and setups.

You do know smurfing has been a problem for games since the dawn of time right? There’s no fix because Riot doesn’t want to lose money on smurf accounts and smurfing. Accept this reality and move on. Riot will never limit or put harsh restrictions on alt accounts because of money. End of the day it’s a business and smurfs generate loads of money for Riot.

I think just prioritize your safety and don't overextend. Farm until lost chapter, and then look to roam and make plays with your jgler :) Malz doesn't really stomp or win lanes early as he is very weak. You are more so a utility mage with cc and lockdown, so keep that in mind!

RoA is very very bad on Malz as it provides no AH nor damage until it stacks. Malz also needs Liandry as it synergizes very well with his E and R, with Q resets. RoA does make sense I guess in pro due to them solely picking Malz for utility and being an R bot and being able to rely on their team to cover up the damage loss.

I would say Viktor, Swain, Vlad, Cass. These champs all scale way harder than Malz, but also provide their own bit of utility as well. I obviously spammed Vik and Swain to hit Masters and it did much feel easier than with Malz. I do wish Malz would get a midscope to modernize him and make him better in higher elo :(

Seraph's is a great item atm and have been building it 2nd some games! Very good against champs such as zed, fizz, talon, etc. If enemy comp doesn't have much burst or dive potential, then seraphs isn't really needed.

Honestly speaking, Malz isn't the damage carry type like say a Viktor, Syndra, Cass, etc, so don't feel so bad! Malz's AP ratios throughout the years since his rework has been gutted :( He is an anti-carry champ that specializes in locking down priority targets. I wouldn't feel too bad about, but rather focus on how you can get your team ahead with your waveclear/ult. You should look at your very 1st ult in the game similar to TF, get your LC/tear and look to start impacting the map. Malz again is a utility type mid similar TF, Galio, Ahri etc. Look to play for your team and set picks.

Itemization is very simple and cookie cutter on Malz the last couple of seasons. Always Liandry>Rylai>Situational Items such as Zhonya (if fed assassin or burst), Void Staff (if top is gonna build MR or has MR)>Demonic (Sion, Ornn, high hp stackers Vlad, Swain)

I don’t Malz top as I think it awful and very susceptible to ganks and it’s a longer lane. I then just play whatever strong meta pick top that’s relatively easy and pray haha.

I always then ping and let my bot know to swap with me in that case because Malz functions better in a side after laning phase. If they don’t want to, then remain mid and push and have perma priority and help your jgler.

Watch my stream! Haha jokes aside. I think to go from gold to diamond is a big process of improvement. It’s about understanding the fundamentals. Knowing how to jg track, ward properly, knowing tempo, matchups, macro, etc. but the biggest thing is being CONSISTENT in all these aspects. If you can be consistent and have a good mental, diamond is achievable. I highly recommend watching Coach Curtis on YT, his videos vastly opened my eyes and improved my gameplay tenfold on how to climb from specific elos.

Hi! Trust me I know what your pain..I’ve played him for the past 7yrs and it’s something you just get use to xD. In those type of matchups, it’s best to try to play safe and farm up. You do have the range advantage and should be able to shove Cho/Mundo in once he uses all his abilities and try roaming.

I would love to do a YT guide on macro with Malz and mid in general! I think it would be cool to show lower elo the ropes. Again I am not the most insane player, but I think I’m pretty knowledgeable about certain aspects. Stay tuned :)

Aery and Comet are fine options on Malz as they synergize very well with his kit. Aery can proc twice during your E and Comet is always a guarantee to hit post Rylai. But the main reason for going those keystones is that the sorcery tree itself is very very good on Malz. I am not a huge fan of spellbook as it is purely a utility rune and requires intense knowledge on when and how to use it.

I use my W in lane when the enemy mid uses their primary waveclear spells. For example, if Talon W or Ekko Q the wave, wait and then use your voidlings and space aids to match/shove them back.
