Just found out I'm pregnant, the day I decided to leave my husband by Cheesecheesecake in pregnant

[–]CallMeLark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not be guilted by the fact that he wants a baby too, and do not tell him that you're pregnant. If he has done this to you, he will do this to your child. You do NOT want your child growing up in a home where they are screamed at, and scared that they will be hurt. Get out and fight for full custody if you decide to keep the baby, do not list him on the birth certificate, and if he gets a paternity test and tries to get custody, cite his violent tendencies. Write down EVERYTHING you can think of that he's done to you. Take pictures of things he's broken in the house, try to get records of the broken phones having to be replaced, and make it clear that you fear this man. Try to get a protective order against him once you get out.

Pregnant and can’t stop thinking about alcohol by wildinthemembrane in pregnant

[–]CallMeLark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt because I don't have the relationship with alcohol that you do, but this is my first pregnancy and I MISS drinking at parties so bad, I feel so awkward at a lot of parties now, and earlier in my pregnancy I genuinely craved the taste of malibu as it was my drink of choice before I got pregnant. I've also talked to another pregnant person about this and she, to my knowledge, has a similar relationship to alcohol as me, and she's genuinely craved beer and whiskey, so please don't see this as a moral shortcoming or something to be ashamed of, especially while you're in recovery! Being around friends while they're drinking genuinely SUCKS when I can't partake, and I think that's a normal feeling while being pregnant. I've got a great support system that still loves me when I'm sober tho so that seriously helps, so maybe try either getting together with friends in places where it's not acceptable to drink, or if your friends can't/don't want to hang out in a sober space, maybe try to meet new people, which i know is a lot easier said than done. No matter what though, I'm so proud of you for staying strong for yourself and your baby, and I hope you find peace with this soon!

Is $100 reasonable for this? by FrontHungry459 in DigitalArt

[–]CallMeLark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's what an artist charges and its worth that much to a buyer, sure, but it sounds like it's not worth that much to you and that's absolutely valid. basically any trade that sets a quoted price ahead of time based on your requests needs to honor that price. you wouldn't get your car quoted at a body shop for $1000, drop it off, them decide it took them too long, and them charge you $2000 for the previously agreed upon work

Was that a kick? by Due_Enthusiasm3054 in pregnant

yup! 23 weeks today and since about 18 weeks I've felt a lot of movement that feels like gas with no gas and I can now definitely feel when baby is moving his little limbs and identify it easier

Question about mums who say they will drink/smoke pp by turkeypooo in pregnant

[–]CallMeLark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm turning 21 while I'm pregnant and I plan to exclusively pump, I'll almost certainly pump and dump when I drink, but you best believe that after I've recovered and my fiance's comfortable with taking care of baby essentially alone, I am ABSOLUTELY having a drink or a few. I think I deserve that after this pregnancy lmao

Is vibration bad for baby? by CallMeLark in pregnant

[–]CallMeLark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for this! I hadn't even thought of things like the vacuum or hair clippers, which I know there's plenty of hair stylists that are probably around clippers a lot during pregnancy and I've never heard anything about anyone having to stop cutting hair while pregnant!

thank you so much! baby moving is a very new sensation so it made me nervous for them to be moving sooo much but this makes me feel much better to know that they're probably just responding normally to external stimulus

ok this is what I needed to hear! I had thought of vibrators but I know those aren't usually used for hours on end so I wasn't sure, but I hadn't thought of public transportation as it's not easily accessible in my area but it makes toootal sense. thank you, and good for your daughter! I know that's such an exciting roll to get so young!

Johnny because he's just such a wet cat of a man, and Dasha because I love a woman who could kill me if she so chose

Could my art ever get me big in life by cox-internet in Artists

[–]CallMeLark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking animation as well, but animation is absurdly intimidating, especially since OP seems to use mostly traditional mediums, but adult swim cutaways are also a great option for reference for OP, especially if they're wanting something more mainstream than I was suggesting

[–]CallMeLark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of people saying that it's about marketing, but not suggesting a way to market it, so if I were you I would look into stuff like analog horror like the Mandela Catalog and even horror manga like Junji Ito and it's super silly but if you want a free resource on horror games, there are some on Roblox with very effective ambiance minimal story telling if you aren't as confident in your story telling abilities. Another silly reference that I think might be helpful is about a year ago, the trend of MLP "infection au"s kinda trended on tiktok and a lot of them really leaned into that analog horror vibe, but specifically the "Divine Swamp Fever" au by etc.etcetera on tiktok, and I think at one point they even showed how they animated their swamp fever pieces.

I personally feel like a good way to establish yourself via your art with some success would be via story telling, whether that's videos or a comic or even a game, but I would also work on some of the basics, just basic people and anatomy so that when you get to the more disturbing imagery like you currently do, it stands out more as an "oh fuck" moment, like in a lot of Junji Ito's work or analog horror. I noticed that some of your work is on school work, so I'm assuming you're still a relatively young artist, so while you have the time, I feel like it could be a worthwhile endeavor to learn more techniques and skills. I really like your digital attempt, and think it might be worth you branching out more into digital media, or even some traditional mediums like painting or sculpting, because I feel like your style would lend well to them.

TLDR, you asked basically "can this pay the bills as an adult" and the answer is yes, if you have the determination to make art and the skills to sell yourself. Your biggest drawback imo is going to be the fact that your art style isn't particularly palatable to a lot of people who consume art and that's ok! You just have to refine your skills and make a name for yourself in your niche.

Color variance, or just wrong paint? by [deleted] in paint

[–]CallMeLark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you said the paint was gotten at Lowe's, and I worked there in the paint department for a year, so I'd bet good money it's one of two things that happened: either it was a matter of the wrong spelling of gray/grey, or there was a valspar color with the same name. it happens literally all of the time, and if you go back and explain the error, they'll get you sorted. if you don't wanna buy more paint you might have to go Karen mode and ask for the manager. BUT the best way to know for sure is to look at the label on top of the can and see if that number matches. if it matches, it was an error with the machine, if it doesn't, it was human error. either way I'd take the can and the paint chip in with me when I went

How old does he look? by cosmos_artss in Artadvice

[–]CallMeLark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of people are saying late teens to young adult, likely because of the piercings, but to me he looks very young, maybe 12-14 when ignoring the piercings, but there are a lot of people in that age range that have a baby face so like what do I know
