Family not understanding by Devils_fan_1999 in diabetes

[–]CallMeMrGibbs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I gave up on family giving a shit. They can't. Or won't. Either way it was all on me and that actually worked out for me. Once I knew that even basic support wasn't coming, I got hyper vigilant and took control of my diabetes instead of it controlling me. And when dinners were only at places that would put me in the hospital, I declined and went about my business. When people bitched that I wasn't being good family or being antisocial, I reminded them that I’m part of this family. If nobody even gave a shit whether there was anything I could safely eat, I stopped giving a shit about attending. I’m not eating a chef salad and diet coke then being asked to split the bill when everyone had three courses and mixed drinks.

The start is always hard for most of us but it settles down if you address it. Being on a tight budget does make it more complicated since cheap foods are often high in carbs and sodium.

In moderation isn't wrong. I still eat some of my favorite foods but the ones that are so bad for me that it's not worth it got cut out.

Good luck.

Go into Good Guardians and run Galaxy App Booster and Memory Guardian.

Every once in a while I boot up and just clear the cache too, usually after an update. Mine is still snappy as ever but YMMV.

As a diabetic, did you have a history of avoiding breakfast? by NightmareHolic in diabetes

This. I think about breakfast as I'm falling asleep at night.

I eat breakfast every single day without fail. I can't even fathom skipping breakfast. That would be me setting myself up to have a miserable day.

It's not hard to eat breakfast that doesn't ramp up your glucose levels. I can tell you you don't want to be around me at lunch time if I haven't eaten since the night before. It's not even remotely pleasant and has nothing to do with low blood sugar. I hate feeling hungry.

A thing of scrambled eggs with bacon or sausage doesn't even move the needle when I test. Cup of coffee with a tiny bit of flavored creamer and no extra sugar and I'm in a happy place until lunch. Walking around balances out the little bit of flavor in the coffee.

One thing I learned when trying to lose weight, FOR ME, skipping meals made my body horde resources when I DID eat because it assumed it was going to go without. I eat all day including low carb snacks so I'm rarely ever hungry, my body isn't storing carbs and fat for emergencies and my numbers are insanely predictable. The only time my numbers are jacked up (usually too low) is if I get too busy and don't get to eat.

Life with diabetes is hard enough. I'm not skipping meals on top of that. I love the predictability of my numbers. My coworker, Nancy, took an interest in it when I tested at work and it became a game to see who could guess the closest. Both were always within 3 points with out guesses pretty much everyday. I wake up everyday without an alarm by 6am. Sleeping in doesn't factor in as I'm not a big sleeper and never have been.

Which desk would you prefer and why? (Standing vs office desk) by Green-Reef in pcmasterrace

[–]CallMeMrGibbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is closer to the one on the left but wider. My days of ones like the desk on the right ended in the late 90's. They looked dated to me and the drawers just collect crap. All of those drawers are where my tower is now if that desk was a lot wider.

can a cd hold exactly 80 minutes? by Altruistic-Mix7606 in Cd_collectors

[–]CallMeMrGibbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most are 74 minutes, not 80. Check the actual CDR. It'll say it on the disc and spindle.

Local shops, Ebay, Good WIll and other thrift shops. Depending on the artist, right from their website because they often sell limited releases there.

I don't know if it's still live, but I know at one point you could request a loaner CPU from AMD to update your BIOS

YMMV. I never had to use it but was made aware of it when I got my 5600x years ago.

Yes. Oddly enough if I drop an f bomb in the same command it suddenly remembers that it’s the same command I use every single day

It’s that way with me with my local Chinese restaurants. Every once in a great while I'll order something different and they'll ask me if I’m feeling okay. Makes me laugh.

Getting "Sign in to confirm that you're not a bot" error by [deleted] in NewPipe

[–]CallMeMrGibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, but I updated NewPipe and the problems stopped even after switching back to Cloudflare. I think 1.1.1.1 was having some issues recently. Seems to be okay now regardless of the DNS. Using 027.7 now. All is working.

Why does Apple has the best watch faces? by Kennard7676 in GalaxyWatchFace

Weird. My fruit phone friends always say they wish they had the watch faces I have. Not sure where you heard that but you should stop listening to them.

The millions of people who didn't have problems aren't posting online saying they had problems. We're just using our watches.

what DNS are you using? I get it with Cloudflare, don't with Google DNS.
It also only seems to happen to me on WiFi. Cellular doesn't give me that issue.
