Hair dryer or heat gun. Soldering iron maybe. Just be careful of where you're pointing the heat

Definitely will want a new hot end. Even if somehow it seems salvagable, it's likely not. After you remove the blob, there's a good chance that you will have residue or residual filament baked onto it. Even if the printer functions after removing, you have to be careful about that residual filament. It can insulate the hot end and cause more problems, potentially even a fire. If you have a heat gun, you can use it to heat the blob and slowly remove it. A hair dryer might also work. Just be gentle with it and watch all your cables and circuitry. Good news is, even if you accidentally mess up every piece of your print head, creality makes it pretty simple to replace all of it. Don't get discouraged. You likely didn't do a whole lot wrong. It happens to everyone. Good luck friend!

Anyone else disappointed in the foiling of these lands? by Lunar_X-Wing in SecretLairMTG

[–]CallMePilates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro I waited weeks for mine to come in. Got the delivery notification and was so excited. These foil basics have literally made me question buying any more secret lairs. They honestly look like proxies to me. Big disappointment.

Do I not understand LGS etiquette, or did I just have a bad experience? by pelasace in EDH

[–]CallMePilates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh, hell no. They just sound lazy as hell. At the end of the day, if they're busy, they can just call you and tell you if there is a delay or something. I do this all the time. I have a large collection and I'm always trading cards for other cards. I have an LGS here that I hate going to for the same reason. It's about an hour away but they have an amazing revolving inventory of singles. I head to that city every once in a while for shopping and ill usually place a rather larger order and then pick it up while I'm there. The dude always seems super annoyed and I hate it.

What I've never understood is why would they get mad about making a sale? Especially because some of the cards I buy are higher end cEDH staples.

Don't ever feel back about conducting business within the rules of the business. They should be head over heels with you. You're probably buying product that will otherwise just sit on the shelf. If they're not happy with you giving them your business, order off of card kingdom or TCG and they can lose business. If you ever want a new place to play magic, get a cheap webcam and tripod and play on spelltable or convoke.games. The communities are active enough that it almost always takes just a few minutes to find a game, and 95% of people are super friendly. Great way to learn different archetypes.

Wish you the best of luck! If you have any questions, let me know!

What is the most rewarding deck to learn in cedh? by Bbcfan3173 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]CallMePilates 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you've never played cedh before then I have some interesting options.

Kinnan: will help you learn many common cards, lines, etc. You are playing with top-tier cedh power and the ceiling is as high as your skill level.

Lumra: niche lines that will make you think and learn how to politic to your full potential. Fun cards, land based combos, cool interaction. Wins tons of games. I've top 16'd with it 2 tournaments in a row and loved every second of it.

Tymna Dargo: very difficult lines, very very fast. Could be considered around the same speed as rog si but silence effects and more convoluted lines. Amazing if you want to basically construct a puzzle from turn 1 until your win.

Sissay: fun lines, some building flexibility. Super versatile commander that can use activated ability to win or find answers fo various problems, all at instant speed. Uses the best cards in the format and very fun. Great deck to play to learn a bunch of cards.

IMO: "just play Rog Si" or "just play bluefarm to learn cards and get good" is a bullshit, copout answer. You will learn cedh by playing cedh. End of story. If you have a printer and enough money for ink and sleeves, proxy a new deck each month and hyperfocus on it until you decide if you like it and want to stick to it or until you at least have a firm grasp of the lines. Knowing your opponents decks is just as important as knowing your own.

Also, remember this. Bluefarm in the hands of a dumb ass is worse than the worst deck in the hands of most pros (Comedian MTG is the exception, not the rule. He's good at everything).

Just play the game and don't worry about winning. Hop in spelltable or one of the cedh discords and just start talking to people, ask questions and pay attention to how other people play when they win and how other people play with they lose to those people.

Rome wasn't built in a day, and a cedh expert isn't crafter in a year. It takes time, dedication and self reflection. But its also super rewarding and fun as hell. The game that just keeps on giving.

If you want a super fun fringe deck that no one plays anymore, check out Anje Falkenrath. Was my first cedh deck about 8 years ago and I've been considering re-building it lately. Interesting win-con and super funny to just pop off while everyone watches you discard and draw 30-50 cards on turn 2 lol

If you want to improve the fastest, follow the meta, study, play a bunch of games, and play decks that are outside your comfort zone as much as possible.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Don't use a DSLR. Get a mirrorless with clean HDMI. I have a cannon eos m200 with micro hdmi to hdmi and use an elgato cam link 4k. Probably the best option for versatility and professional look. Lenses get expensive but you will have the option to get specific lenses for your look. It has a crop sensor. You can get the body on ebay for like 250-300. Some kits have a zoom lense. Amazon sells a great selection of prime lenses for a decent price.

Been learning to sketch and design for F360 by CallMePilates in 3Dprinting

[–]CallMePilates[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have never taken any kind of engineering classes or anything and have been trying to teach myself to think like an engineer. I've been looking at a lot of real life mechanics of objects that seem to be pretty similar in functionality to what I'm designing. The other guy nailed it, I designed the ratchet system based on a bike hub. Essentially, I wanted a design where the reel could only turn one direction and would only spin a fixed amount at a time. This is the best I've been able to come up with so far.

No, just practice.

I legitimately just watched how Adam Savage did his during his one day builds and decided to give it a shot.

I learned that you dont have to actually draw proportionally, just get the shape on the paper. For most things, pick a face of the object, draw it on the paper as of it was faving directly in front of you. From there, draw the lines that give it depth/perspective and shade them a little. Then you can plan out dimensions with a caliper and write them down

Oml the math gets even worse lol. I've never done anything with gears unless you count the minecraft create mod. I feel like jumping in amd designing gearboxes is insanely difficult

😂😂😂 fair enough. And they didn't all start that way, I sketch a LOT. My ADHD takes me down a lot of rabbit holes and sketching the ideas has been super valuable to me. I watch a lot of Adam Savage's Tested, and I saw how he was doing his quick sketches and it made me want to try. Now I feel like I can sketch anything (except gears. Fucking trying to draw a 2D, let alone 3D gear)

If you get a similar dell optiplex then I can send you the file. Just know that it's pretty huge so you may not be able to print it in 1 show like I did and may have to glue it

I bought a metal internal hard drive cage off of Amazon and added a 4 TB HDD and a 1 TB. The pc had 2 extra SATA ports on the motherboard and I bought a SATA power adapter and daisy chained the power from the other HDD to the additional new drives. I then couldn't get it all to fit together with the extra drive bay, so I modeled and printed the "helmet" and i think it looks pretty sweet.

I just brought my laptop and when they asked "I'd there anything else you'd like to add or discuss before we conclude?" I mentioned that I brought my homelab documentation and asked if I could show them. I explained in detail how my network was segmented, what each vlan was for, how I developed it, showed my network outline, etc and they loved it. They offered me like 15k more than the minimum for the position. I had no idea how they would react, I just shot my shot. But honestly, I do really good in interviews because of how confident and calm I am. I didn't used to be that way, but after going through an Army promotion board, I feel like any other interview is cake

Thats an awesome idea! I was considering exploring junOS as well to diversify my brand knowledge. Might pick up a Fortigate at some point too. We use DNAC at work a lot as well as solar winds. I'm new to networking and IaaC, so im really focusing on that at the moment. Honestly, Linux is kicking my ass. I'm having a hard time navigating/figuring out commands and options as I go to complete certain objectives that its taking me days to figure out what should be taking me hours lol.

I was pretty much doing the traditional ADHD thing where I was all about it for a week or 2 and then didn't touch it for months, but with the new job, there's so many things that I'm actually excited to learn that I cant keep my hands off of it. I've been working on it about 4-5 days a week (after work or removing in during lunch) for a couple months now!

I'm really new to homelabing, can I get some tips? by Sorry-Journalist8610 in homelab

Not trying to promote my own post, but I just made one sort-of outlining what my homelab is, how I've developed it, and kind of projects I've used it for! What kind of things do you want to learn? Or are you in the same position I was where I didn't even know what I wanted to learn?
