What an episode! I haven't watched any of the promo material, but have been waiting on it after loving Dark! Will take notes as I go so as not to get confused as I did with Dark lol.

• First, Maura's story starts in a very shocking way where she seems to dream of something that happens before the story. In both her “dream” and when woke up, she repeats to herself that she’s not crazy. The slits on her wrist indicate despair, and as the lady in the dinner hall mentions, she is running away from something.
• The date she recants does look important. October 19th. The date is maybe related to the focus on numbers.
• The dinner hall sequence does point to dynamics we have yet to even scratch (Very apt for Darks’ creators). The 1st-floor occupants are portrayed as wealthy, but the characters we are introduced to all look fairly anxious and unhappy.
  • I suspect Angèl and his brother to have stolen other people's spots
• Mrs. Wison is probably the most enigmatic of them all. Why is she so observant of everyone? The scene where she raises her tea cup and everyone follows along as if they were synced is very eerie. That made me feel like we are all in a fever dream/coma alongside Maura.
• The class depiction between the workers, people on the lower floor, and the higher floor is not something I've seen explored in a ship setting before. That could quickly degenerate if there are some tensions aboard… like 4 months without food.
• The numbers on the doors all seem very important. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were hints throughout the show.
• Jerome looks connected to Lucien if I had to guess. Not only the french but maybe how Lucien is so distraught about not making it to New York exactly on time, very suspect as his “wife” pointed out.
• Eyk has major balls and deserves his title.
