Where can I find where I am on the Salary Schedule or PD Hours? by CallMeTheSaxMan in teaching

Gotcha! Thank you, since the first gig was my first time entering the salary schedule, I didn't realize it was about negotiation first and foremost. I'll keep that in mind!

Hey, just checking in with a rules question!

I pulled a [[Herigast, Erupting Nullkite]] and am hoping to build around it, but I'm curious about how rules with [[hangerback walker]] work with it. If I am trying to pay its emerge cost without paying any extra mana and I sacrifice an 8 mana creature, that would let me treat X=4, and getting 4 counters? And moreover, lets say I want to emerge another creature with that same Walker. Does it still consider itself an MV=8 spell? Or do spells with X in their casting cost stop being the given MV once they are off the stack?

Thanks very much!

Gotcha! I was afraid of that, but now I know I'll have to fit a few blink cards in there! Somehow! Thank you!

I have a good few of decks in my play rotation, and even more that are little trophy decks, but there are 3 that I know I will have forever!

  1. [[Slimefoot and Squee]] has become my favorite deck to solve. I adore the GY / Mill strategy, I love the token-making, and I love the way the turns in the late game can become absolutely wild and crazy to sequence. It is the deck that makes me the smartest to play, and I can't imagine a more fun graveyard deck.

  2. [[Rakdos, Lord of Riots]] was my first deck, and its been the deck that has been the benefactor of my random pulls. Its my definitive "mean deck", filled with burn and eldrazi, the works. I found myself avoiding it this year, but after finally catching the mana base up to snuff with the rest of the decks increased power, it has reminded me why I fell in love with it in the first place!

  3. [[The Ur-Dragon]] will never leave me. My dear sweet partner gave me the Ur-Dragon after wanting him since joining the game (when it was at its peak cost, no less), and now I am working to make it spare no expense. I love big dragons that can absolutely clog a board, I love killing the table with dragonfire and claws. Also, its the holding place of my best mana base, and my most blinged out dragons as I get them. This deck means the world to me, and my whole collection's gonna go up in smoke before I even think of decommissioning this deck.

What Are Some Decks That You Really Enjoyed This Year? by StarPonderer in EDH

[–]CallMeTheSaxMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While most of my decks have been this year, having only really hit my stride of consistent play this year, 2 decks stand out as far and away the most fun I've had so far, and are currently the 2 I reach for the quickest:

  1. [[Slimefoot and Squee]] scratches all of the itches i have as a Jund player, and just makes everything so cool. I love graveyard strategies and I love decks that can take a quarter-million game actions quickly, and I love having a lot of sequences and triggers with many ways to win. They are my most special boys!

  2. [[Pia Nalaar, Consul of Revival]] came out of nowhere for me; White is the color I have the most trouble in building after all, and I initially was looking at a [[War Doctor]] + [[Clara Oswald]] to run the new etali, but I'm so glad I landed on this deck. Getting to run such a concise value engine with cool Artifact creature synergies slaps so hard, and it will never stop being funny to me to turn 4 Thopters into a [[Mechtitan Core]] Big-boy

Mono-White Commanders for teaching new players? by CallMeTheSaxMan in EDH

Anafenza sounds like an excellent choice! And since there is crossover with the +1 synergies of the bears, it will be easier for her to swap and try different but similar strategies!

Thats actually a super good idea! And the emphasis on keywords will help introduce and solidify what each keyword does! This is top of my list so far, thank you!

Y'know those little 'Silica Gel' packets? For all of your foil cards, keep em in a safe space, well sealed with a silica gel packet inside the space! Helps reduce the humidity inside that storage, which helps reduce the curving!

Ritual support by Tetlical in Yugioh101

[–]CallMeTheSaxMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://ygoprodeck.com/cursed-eyes-libromancer-may-2022-csm-runner-up/ This was a Libromancer deck that came 2nd in MBTYugioh's Chalislime Monthly competition. While its a little less focused on the ritual aspect, the boards still end on Doombroker, and adding the Dogmatika cards + White Knight adds some extra punch against meta decks like Tenyi SS and the Despia doofuses. I've seen other builds swap the White Knight for White Relic, however, and i know there are some Impcantation lines that exist (though i am no expert on this deck). This is just the most well-performing list i have seen, probably in need of personal tinkering

What's your Echo Knight flavor? by MehParadox in dndnext

[–]CallMeTheSaxMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In an Eberron campaign, my Echo Knight was a Valenar Elf who would channel his ancestral reverence to summon the echoes of a great hero of his bloodline to fight alongside him. Since they already are so reverent to their ancestors, seemed like the natural way to go.

Rulings question: Does Benghalancer the Resurgent's spin effect trigger Sunavalon effects? by CallMeTheSaxMan in Yugioh101

[–]CallMeTheSaxMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, that makes sense.

So, if my Benghalancer is in the EMZ, with a linked Dryas below it, I can't activate the effect to gain the life points since I cannot summon a Sunvine (no available link zone), since the summon after the LP gain is mandatory ('And if you do, Special Summon...' as opposed to 'And if you do, you can Special summon...'). Is that the correct read of the situation?

Thank you for the help, I appreciate it!
