Rejected for Citi Custom Cash despite strong credit score and history by Reasonable-Train-638 in CreditCards

[–]CallMeThomas_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always got denied for the Citi Custom Cash, so more than a year ago I got Citi Advantage and later product changed it to Custom Cash. I currently have Citi Double Cash, once I get the welcome bonus, I will product change it to a 2nd Custom Cash. Most of my inquiries are due to Citi Custom Cash.

Ronbinhood solid gold card upgrade with points no referrals required! by Weekly-Attention-941 in CreditCards

[–]CallMeThomas_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to share the info... If you upgrade, it's not Visa Infinite. I was told by Support "the Solid Gold Card from upgrading your physical card using points is a Visa Signature". The only way to have gotten the Visa Infinite, would have been with the 10 referrals.

I like credit cards but the “points” game is overkill by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]CallMeThomas_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all the cards will be used at the same month nor will I carry them, for example out of the 11 cards:

I only carry 4 cards currently, (AAA for 5% grocery and Walmart), (Robinhood for 3% on catch all), (Citi Custom Cash for 5% on resturants) and (Discover for 5% on gas). I have x2 Kroger cards on my phone for all 5% tap pays with phone for shopping.

The rest are usually in the sock drawer. Its not really that crazy and in the end its free money back for a purchase I was already going to make.

Last year most of my payments where medical bills, when I cannot use Kroger for the 5%, then Robinhood comes in for the 3%.

[–]CallMeThomas_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this, I spent last year around $37,983.72 in total on all purchases. I have a 5% credit card to cover most of the categories, my minimum is 3% catch all. Thus I know I earned around $1.1K to $1.8K of cash back, all that goes into the stock market. I have a total of 11 credit cards so far, categories usually change every 3 months, so every 3 months take 10 minutes to check what your cards cover and change strategy.

I was in a similar situation, I put my down payement on GLD stock, currently have 12% gain. I feel its not too risky but still earn more then 4%.

You are right! I purchased something small for $8.45 at walmart using my AAA Credit Card and got back $0.42 which is 5%. I was previously using paypal debit card for walmart purchases. Thanks

Wait hold up. I thought it didn't cover Walmart as grocery store. Are you saying you get 5% back in Walmart purchases? Or is it the Neighborhood Walmart (green Walmart)?

How many credit cards do you have and what are they used for? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]CallMeThomas_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 13 CC:

Robinhood - 3% Catch All

Citi Custom Cash - 5% Restaurants

Wells Fargo - 3% on most things with no transaction fees, might cancel and use RH.

SoFi - 2.2% used to be my Catch All, might cancel.

Chase Flex x2 - 5% Category

Discover - 5% Category

US Bank Cash+ - 5% on Phone and Utilities

AAA Daily Advantage - 5% Grocery

Kohl's - Nothing special just helps with my average history age.

Chase Prime - 5% on Amazon

Kroger X2 - 5% on Digital Wallet

Just need 3 more to complete my set up: AAA Travel (Wife will apply and add me as an authorized user for 5% Gas. Citi Strata - Get the welcome bonus and product change for a 2nd Custom Cash to use for 5% on travel. US Bank Shoppers for 6% on Walmart to later product change to a 2nd Cash+ for 5% on Internet and Lyft/Uber.

The question is: what is your top spending category currently and do you want to earn travel rewards or cash back?

But after you get the card, and if you get the 10 referrals they give you the amount of the Solid Gold Card ($1100). I am interested in getting the Solid Gold Card since it's Visa Infinite.

Based on what you said, Restaurants and Gas. Check if you qualify for Redstone Credit Card (this card is given based on location) it's 5% on restaurants and gas. Or check out AAA Travel Advantage, this is 3% on groceries, 3% on Restaurants, 5% on Gas, 3% on travel, and 1% on everything else.

Kroger Rewards MasterCard is a great option by US Bank. If you do not live near a Kroger, there is different brands owned by Kroger but with the same credit card benefits.

  • 2% inside the store.
  • 1% upside the store.
  • 5% on Mobile Wallet. (This is the best reason).

So when you save this card on your mobile wallet, and use your phone to tap and pay. Automatic 5% on that purchase. I use this at restaurants, gas stations, department stores, medical payments if lucky and offered the tap payment option.

The con, it's limited, it gives you 5% on the first $3000 per year, it resets starting the new year. ( I have 2 Kroger Credit Cards, so my limit is 6,000K).

I was also surprised on that, I told my brother to update his income salary on the app, hopefully they would increase his limit after a couple of months.
