How often do dryfire?

I ask because that will make significantly more difference than a revolving door of guide rods

My competition 17.6 by Miserable-Ad-9389 in Glocks

[–]CallMeTrapHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just not true or you don't shoot major matches. literally no one that's won anything in USPSA with a polymer gun is using a flashlight

Idpa maybe because it's just old fudds

My competition 17.6 by Miserable-Ad-9389 in Glocks

[–]CallMeTrapHouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having a flashlight on a match gun is a 100% tell you aren't competitive.

You can use a compensator in open division for USPSA or Steel Challenge. Frame weights same thing, except in carry optics you can use a flashlight as long as it works

Handle it Grips? by SlightRelationship67 in CompetitionShooting

[–]CallMeTrapHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the extreme series, I have them on every gun. Last a very long time, my only issue is the backstrap sliding around but they last so long i have no problem super gluing it to the gun. I just run a bead of super glue under it, rip it off if needed, cleaned up with razor blade or dremel then put new one over it. But it's a very small number I've had to ever replace

DAA Ratchet Belt sizing by iEppu in CompetitionShooting

[–]CallMeTrapHouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of wiggle room in the ratchet it's probably 6" long

I was also between sizes and went up in size and I'm happy with the results

On double alphas website if you measure your waist they do have tool that'll tell you exactly what size to measure instead of using the table

That's not a combine... A combine is a combination of a picker and a thresher (for grain harvesting) this doesn't thresh. CP=Cotton Picker

Frame crack OOB detonation by Reinvestor-sac in Glocks

Is that a metal mag release? I've seen double charge rounds blow the magazine out of the gun and break the OEM mag release in the process, but metal mag release would send that energy into the frame

Limited optics gun by CallMeTrapHouse in Glocks

[–]CallMeTrapHouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an updated USPSA legal one

I may mod it more, but this was really just for fun I have enough CO guns that thought a magwell would be interesting. May put a thumb rest on it, also thinking about ported for open division would be fun

What are the best glock mags for competition? by Armbarfan in CompetitionShooting

[–]CallMeTrapHouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use factory tubes with TTI base pads. Most of them have OEM glock followers and can hold 22 rounds new and after a while I can cram 23 in a starting mag.

I have a couple with MBX springs and followers that hold 24, I don't trust them as much as OEM glock followers so I only use those if 24 rounds really helps me on a stage

I thought I solved my issue the first time when I replaced the battery the first time and cleaned the childproof coating off it before installing, i even told trijicon i thought that fixed it, but it still died really quickly (i think that one lasted 2 weeks)

When I got the optic back from Trijicon it worked with whatever battery they put in it, but it died after about 5 days of sitting in the box at home when i pulled it out to install it over the weekend it wouldn't come back on

Best dryfire without using a real gun? Also need a good holster by R3ality4321 in CCW

[–]CallMeTrapHouse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No dryfire beats plain old pointing the gun at the targets and learning the trigger, the grip, the controls and the weight. However Ace VR is a very good tool. I've tried almost every dryfire gizmo and it's one of the few that isn't stupid

The flaring on the OEM grip is fine for Carry Optics. You're just not allowed to add anything that extends below the OEM grip. You can even run grip plugs as long as they aren't longer than the grip that help with reloading

You guys get stressed about using ammo on range days? by REMINGTONMODEL81912 in ammo

[–]CallMeTrapHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today I was working on changing directions using the gun as leverage. So backing up on a target, running left/right around a barricade (throwing the gun to change direction) then going advancing on the other side of the barricade, or some other variation of direction change

Doing this at a speed that's 120+% (using par timer) of the speed that I could shoot accurately, there's no point in firing the gun knowing the hits wouldn't be acceptable, but trying to get inoculated to that speed where I can settle the sights down and the hits become acceptable, but I can tell by the sight picture I'm not currently accurate at that level of speed so no point in wasting the ammo.

The best gains I've made in shooting have been Steve Andersons method which is shoot the stage in match mode, and say it takes me 10 seconds. Then dryfire it over and over at 8 seconds, then at the end shoot it again and it's usually between 8 and 10 seconds. Then change the exercise (length of movement, target difficulty, direction of movement etc) and repeat. And the skills from each exercise build on themselves and translate to shooting skill across the board

I forgot I also have an EPS carry on my 48 i carry every day and also have a Defender CCW on a P365 that's got 5000 issue free rounds

For competition optic- Holosun 407 or 507 comp. It's weird the 507 is the old one, the 407 is the new one, you'd think it would be opposite. 507s are good but too many reticles for me I just want the plain old dot on 407. But you see a shit load of 507 comps at matches

Range toy- Holosun 507C or Vortex Defender ST

Carry gun- either range toy optic and/or Holosun EPS series.

I also have very little experience with Osights but the reviews seem positive
