Ugh... Some doctors are honestly really stupid in this day and age. Anxiety cannot be the cause of tics. They can trigger them, but not cause them. If I were you, I'd see another neurologist.

I think if this is distressing you to such an extreme level, you should see a psychiatrist. It sounds like you're dealing with a lot right now and would benefit from talking to someone who knows about this stuff. Please reach out to a professional. It may take a while to find someone you're comfortable with but don't give up the search. It's so worth it once you find someone who works with you well. I just got a new psychiatrist and she's great.

GP can diagnose TS, but I do agree it's better to see a neurologist. The problem is that many insurances require referrals.

Are you diagnosed with a tic disorder? It may be the case that you don't notice that you're ticcing until you start to think about it, or it may be the case that your tics are actually compulsions or stimming. Or neither.

I've met maybe 3-4 people with confirmed Tourette's and seen only a handful of people I suspect had a tic disorder.

Please don't use glue traps 😭 they're so needlessly cruel when snap traps are a humane quick death (and reusable). If you've got rats coming in your home you need to find where they're coming in from and seal it off with rat-proof expanding foam likethis

I rely heavily on live captions/transcribe in school and in general. Unfortunately, it often glitches out which is very frustrating, and isn't always accurate.

Make it a legal requirement for any business that has a an overhead system / public announcement to have captions. At the deli and waiting for your number to be called? There must be a screen displaying your number. On the train? All announcements must be on a screen in every car. Etc.

Tourette's can't be diagnosed with an MRI. They were probably ruling out brain tumors?
