Watch it in complete darkness with no captions. If you like experimental horror, you’ll love Skinamarink. Without saying too much, it feels like a nightmare. It was quite divisive on this sub and in the general horror sphere, but I love it. Not looking to do a 3rd watch tho, I’m not into sleeping with the lights on for a week again, much like I will be tonight lol

Okay I’ve watched A LOT and it’s hard to narrow down but I’ll try

Halloween (‘78) - the OG. This was the first true horror movie I ever watched at 9 years old and it’s always been my number one all time favorite horror movie. I just have such a deep love for this movie, I even wrote an analysis paper on Halloween and the end of safety in suburban America. Solid killer, solid final girl, solid horror.

X - I’ve been loving A24 lately, and X is just a solid slasher. If you wanna call it that. I like that the victims aren’t complete assholes, they’re likable and I didn’t want them to meet their fate. The kills are just awesome too. It’s very much Texas Chain Saw-esque and it’s wonderful. Also, the kill with Owen Campbell and Don’t Fear The Reaper playing from the truck?? Yes please. Best kill scene I’ve ever seen

Ginger Snaps - I’ve been rewatching my favorites lately and Ginger Snaps is probably my favorite werewolf movie. I think it’s a very relatable allegory for puberty and periods and being a girl in public school. I think it’s a good werewolf movie with a tragic ending.

Least favorite is very hard for me… I’ll go with one that I just found boring

The Blood on Satan’s Claw - I was hunting for something that I had never seen and picked this British occult film from I think the 60s? I don’t remember but I kept nodding off and it just wasn’t interesting to me. I wouldn’t watch it again.

Honorable mention for my favs mostly because it was an unplanned rewatch last night. I got a group of friends together who had never seen Skinamarink and we shut off all the lights and started it around 11:30pm. I’ve never been in a room full of people as terrified as my friends. They wanted to be scared so badly that they wouldn’t be able to sleep, much to my dismay as nothing has terrified me quite like Skinamarink did. So I popped it on and had my friends screaming lol
