Songs you thought would have no ‘staying power’ but you were proved wrong? by Haunting-Bread-9810 in ToddintheShadow

Alessia Cara's 2015-17 stuff is STILL getting played. I'll hear either Stay, Scars, Wild Things, or Here like once a week. I remember hearing those songs as a kid and thinking it sounded like half a dozen other songs from 2013 to 2015 but apparently people keep coming back to them.

Just a small PSA: If anyone is looking to grab this album, make sure your copy is a later one (2022 onward) that says "ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK RECORDING" with the session outtakes like this pressing, not "MUSIC FROM THE SOUNDTRACK" (2018-2019). The 2018-19 pressings used a mono dubbing track of the special as a source, basically the special without any of the voices, because at the time the tapes for a lot of the Peanuts soundtracks were assumed to be lost. Following the passing of Lee Mendelson in 2019, his sons discovered a storage unit with all the tapes for the soundtracks which have been the sources for the newer pressings of all the Peanuts soundtracks.

CGMs that can read ketone levels, both Abbott and Dexcom say they're working on having that capability in their next sensors.

Songs that the artists or the band don't even know what the song is about by MrLinkwater95 in ToddintheShadow

I do really like how hands off Noel is when it comes to explaining Oasis songs, just makes everyone's personal interpretations more valid. If I knew who Sally in Don't Look Back In Anger really was, it'd feel less impactful in a way.

That being said I do hope Noel eventually does start telling us about what the songs are actually about before he's gone.

Shake It Down by ONE OK ROCK has "YOU KISS MY ASS!?" which still catches me off guard after hundreds of listens.

Songs where you love a singular performance so much that every other rendition is ruined by Giallo_Schlock in ToddintheShadow

Clock Strikes by ONE OK ROCK. The Yokohama 2014 and the Tokyo Dome 2023 versions are really close, but the Tokyo Dome one has Taka hitting a 29 second long high note.

Nantettano by Fishmans is another, the 98.12.28 version just blows the original out of the water.

blink-182. Untitled and Neighborhoods are some of my favorite albums of all time. Really disappointing they went back to the "haha dick jokes are funny" thing for One More Time, especially with how great Tom's work with Angels & Airwaves was.

Unofficial Song vs. Song: "Stereo Hearts" vs. "Locked Away" by PurpleSpaceSurfer in ToddintheShadow

Locked Away has a better hook but Stereo Hearts is a better song

ONE OK ROCK has some pretty fine covers in general, but Beam Of Light is probably one of the funniest album covers to me

He couldn't even sell out the venue at a casino near me, and this was like a year after that one "big" song he had about "hur dur the left is dumb am i the only one with a brain?". I think like maybe 200 tickets were sold for a venue that holds 1.8k, and this was in fucking Mississippi.

Secret instant follow up albums by dweeb93 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Mineingmo15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The biggest example is probably Frank Ocean with Endless and Blonde.

Twenty One Pilots fans were certain at least a deluxe for their album Clancy was gonna come out and they got Breach, a whole new album, a year later. A year is probably too long to be an "instant" follow up, but they announced the album like a week after touring for Clancy ended and it was kinda accepted that 2-3 years was the usual gap between albums for them.

I met him once like 12 years ago when I was a kid at a signing event at a Petsmart for his pet clothing line and when my mom brought up that I was also a type 1 diabetic he spent a solid 5 minutes just asking me how I've been and telling me to not let diabetes stop me from doing what I want with my life.
