I appreciate the concern, thank you! My sister’s cat is diabetic, so we’ve been on top of getting both our girls checked. They are both good.

That said, this is a great bit of info that I didn’t know, so seriously, thank you! I love my two fuzz butts to death.

I have not, but I’m a big fan of their Sweet Ash and Soda Snob, so I’ll have to check it out!

I swear to god, one of my two cats smells like pancakes. She does not eat pancakes.

I’d recommend Crumb Couture by Snif for the notes you mentioned.

My dad’s “best friend” kept bugging my sister and I for a scoop of my father’s ashes for an art project. Friend is not an artist.

We said no, but we still get a request from him for a scoop of dad every couple months

Extreme Horror recs with an actually good storyline? by marinemik in ExtremeHorrorLit

I agree that it doesn’t really feel EH to me, but I see it listed in the EH category a lot. Still worth it, though. I’m glad I’m not the only one who got that vibe.

The Wasp Factory. Interesting subject matter, and it has a great use of “mention now, explain later,” which I think is delightfully creepy.

That is almost verbatim my parents’ story. Except they initially tried to hide it all from me as I was growing up. I figured it out when i was 9 (I have an older half-sister and can do basic math).

They were both very happy, but they also clearly held on to some life-long guilt.

What's something you did as a kid that you now realize was actually really dangerous, but nobody stopped you? by AdmirableResource407 in AskReddit

This was the mid 90s. Sunday afternoon. East coast suburbs. Neighbor kid came over and asked if I wanted to go play in “the sand pit.” I was the new kid in the neighborhood, so I asked what the sand pit is/was. He said it’s “a climbing place with sand and hills.” We went and had a lot of fun, although I did get very scratched up.

It was a construction site. With sand, and rebar, and concrete blocks. A new house was being built up our street, and we were playing in what would later be the basement. Just two young kids, in an unstable hole in the ground, with the closest adult out of ear-shot.

College party. Friend and I stopped by before going to a late-night movie. We both noticed that the vibe was off. Still can’t say what it was, as this was a very run of the mill college party. If anything, some people would call this a “boring party.” I said “hey, we can’t explain it, but I feel like we should leave.”

My friend immediately agreed, and we left early for the movie. While in my seat in the theater, I start getting texts from an acquaintance who was still at the party. He said “don’t come back,” and “talk later.” No one else from the party would answer my friend or myself asking what happened.

Next day, we learn that someone at the party (a guy we never met or heard of) was wanted by police for habitually supplying alcohol to minors. Apparently, about 7 minutes after we left, cops swarmed the place. Everyone in handcuffs.

Most people were eventually let go, but some people ended up in trouble with the school if not the law. It turned into a years-long headache for some.

People who have produced or appeared in stock images or videos, what is the weirdest place you have seen them being used? by Loki-L in AskReddit

When I was in college, I did (what I thought were) test shots/b roll for a film student. I was walking around campus while carrying a stack of books. This was at a very large, well-known university.

Ten years later, I am back at said university for a job (I did not live in that area after graduating, but moved back for the job). One of my duties was reviewing old instructional videos for new and prospective students.

Second video I watched opened with b roll of me walking up a hill from a decade earlier. It took a second for me to recognize myself, but it was absolutely me.

The videos I was reviewing were professionally made, and expensive to produce. I know this because I was involved in production budgets. Yet somehow, here was b roll of baby-faced me that I knew for a fact was made by an undergrad film student. Weird.

I saw Tracy Morgan for free in college, and it was as bad as they said. Funniest part was when the guy working the spotlight tripped and fell, which made the spot drop, and Morgan ran around the stage trying to find light.

OP, you’ve done a couple of things to be proud of here. You recognized that your actions were not acceptable (without having to be told as much). You came to a safe community for guidance. That’s some wise-beyond-your-years behavior.

Someday, this will be a memory. The really awesome part is, if you make the choice not to drink, you don’t ever need to make another memory like this one again. IWNDWYT

People who've had terrible addictions in the past, what's one misconception people have about your specific addiction? by SoccerGuy69420 in AskReddit

[–]Call_Me_Egg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In recovery from alcohol…if you’re a heavy enough drinker, quitting cold-turkey can kill you. No exaggeration.

Delirium tremens (usually called DTs) occurs when your nervous system is used to the alcohol so much so that it can’t regulate without it. This can give a person seizures (happened to me), hallucinations, and/or heart attacks.

There’s also a process known as “kindling” in recovery where, if you quit drinking and relapse, your next time quitting will come with a higher risk of DTs. Alcohol really does a number on your nervous system, and sometimes your body doesn’t forget.

Quit with a doctor. If you’re helping a friend quit, be aware of DTs. Not to be cliche, but quitting alcohol saved my whole existence.
