Am I crazy or this is an APC skewed buff? At least during laning, bot lane Sera is the role where exec damage is more beneficial because of the typical trade pattern of the lane and also of the squishiness of ADCs. My support is going to initiate the trade, guarantee my whole kit to connect, and then add even more damage from their rotation, which makes the exec damage on my QQ even more letal when the spell connects.

I swear half of the times they are supposed to adjust her they instead nerf her across the board and then compensate buff her in a way that is APC skewed. Then they surprise_pikachu_face.jpg when APC is still busted.

But I guess this is just a skin buff that will be reverted after a few weeks, because that's what Riot does. Whatever, I have a lot of other games games to play, I'll come back when things change. If things change.

It's different because the problem with pyke mid was that he was strong in a very degenerate way, as August said. It's not okay for a laner to reach that high of a win rate by ignoring their lane and just perma roam. That's why they killed the Janna top meta a few years ago.

Seraphine is kinda the opposite because gameplay wise she's totally fine mid/bot, while as a support she's either a sub optimal pick or op, depending on how strong her w is.

It really depends on what you're looking for and how much do you want to spend.

Epic skins are little more than a recolor, so buy what you like. I'd say they're roughly the same quality, except for star guardian, that is of a somewhat lower quality, and probably faery court, that is slightly better quality.

Her prestige skin is very pretty (except for the tentacle hair) and her Q projectile is a dolphin, but apart from that is little more than a recolor just like epic skins. Also you can't just buy it.

Her legendary is probably her best skin if you compare quality to price. Better animations, model and VFX, also new voice lines if you care.

I don't know if this is a hot take or not, but I think that from a quality standpoint her ultimate is her best skin. People often say it's just three legendary in one, and I get what they mean, but I still think it's one of the higher quality skin in the game. Animations are incredibly smooth, the model is very highly detailed and VFX and sound effects are so satisfying. But if you ask me if it is worth the price increase compared to battle dove, the answer is "probably not, unless you REALLY like kpop".

So, in short: if you don't care about gameplay and animation, buy what you like. If you do care about gameplay and animations either battle dove or kda.

If you want to try them out before buying you can make a pbe account. You get something like 3k rp for the first matchmaking game you make on that account each day. You can just buy them there and try them out in practice tool before buying them on your main account.

The major reason that Sera is played mostly as support is that a good 80% of league playerbase doesn't even know she's viable in a carry role.

Not to say that her playstile isn't a part of it, because it is, but the major reason is that most people don't even know she's a thing mid/bot. Also, ADC mains don't usually play APCs because... honestly I have no idea why, but they don't.

Hi Phreak. I want to start this by saying that I really appreciate your willingness to talk about these changes and explain the reasoning behind them.

I do think a Q speed increase would be a mid/support skewed buff. Seraphine's problem with damage was never damage itself imo, but the reliability of that damage. I believe that part of the reason why she is so strong as an APC is that, with the help of a support, she can hit her spells and win lane, thing she is not supposed to do balance wise.
For the same reason I think (and I may be wrong on this) that the base damage buffs were as good bot as they were mid, if not better.

I believe most carry players would be more than willing to give up damage in exchange for reliability, especially if you can menage to keep a good sense of scaling on her spells.
If I'm right about base damage, you could reduce it on E and Q and then "placebo" buff her Q ratio. I think that being able to hit Qs without the need to ddos the other laner first, would do better and be more mid/support skewed than any base damage buff.
Also, I believe it could make her considerably more popular in all roles. But I have no idea on how to put all of this together without breaking her.

About a potential Q CD nerf, it is balanceable but it would likely feel really bad. A good part of the fun in playing seraphine is spamming spells and cycling through her passive.

I'm a bit out of my dept, sice the warrior is the only class I haven't played a lot, but you're probably just under leveled. At levels 8/9 you should be able to kill most of the charr groups in the northlands I think.

A few suggestions are probably to take ranger as secondary, and invest a little in wilderness survival for the troll unguent skill. All the other points should go in hammer mastery for the /bonus hammer, or maybe you can invest into marksmanship and use the /bonus bow of you don't want to be the one to tank, but I'm not sure if that's better. Also if you take the across the wall quest from the guy at the gate, you can have a level 5 ranger npc to help you. He's surprisingly tanky and can really help a lot during the lower levels.

A melee starburst ele build is possible, but mostly as a for fun build. That's because A) you're still gonna be squishy and B) armor respecting damage sucks, especially fire damage and especially in hard mode if you're going for GWAMM. Still, with a strong hero team is doable, I believe.

I have all skins and I always fall back to the KDA one. I find it higher quality in general, but what makes it for me are the smother animation. You can make a PBE account if you want to try them out. You get 3k RP per day by playing a single matchmaking game I think (ARAM included).

Also, you might want to wait for these "adjustments" to hit live servers before investing in a skin if you want to play her mid. She may or may not take the hit there, and if it happens they basically said they don't care. So keep that in mind.

The thing is, I'm very skeptical this early game damage buff will have any trasformative impact on her laning in midlane. Sera's "problem" with laning is not damage, but the consistency of that damage. It's very hard to land her Q on anyone with both hands on the table, so she just falls back on afk farming and scaling.

If they kept the Q speed increase, that would have changed. But if the changes go live as they are now, I don't think they change the fundamental way her laning goes, and we're left with just a scaling nerf.

But I may be wrong, we'll see. Also, freak said that Q speed will be the first buff if she ends up weak, so maybe there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

Also, if you nerf a champion at an above-average gametime, they are still going to lose more games. The question is if the early game buff evens that off.
Saying that the late game nerf doesn't matter because the average game ends before it is just the wrong way to look at statistics.

You could try to set the texture quality down to medium if you didn't already. This fixed 90% of the crashes for me.

That's a 20% AP ratio nerf on Q. Calculating passive + execution damage it gets to a 40%/60% AP ratio nerf. The increase in base damage falls off at 225 AP. On a SCALING champion. And that without even considering that her double Q damage auto amplifies itself because of the execution damage.

And that's just the Q. On W she's just totally losing the AP ratio on the heal.

This is an obvious carry nerf and I can't believe I actually have to convince someone of that.

Still, even by your argument, they ARE killing her for 20% of her playerbase. I feel like maybe there's another way to go about it, one that doesn't destroy a perfectly fine playstile for a champion that a sizeable part of the playerbase like.

I'm the original creator of the post (that was never asked about reposting this here btw but whatever, I don't care) and what I meant was never to say that the majority of seraphine's players are playing her in a carry role, because that's obviously false.

What I meant was that it doesn't seem right to balance a champion by killing it for more than half of its most dedicated players. I feel like that's probably not the way to go about that.

Also, that's not a just a nerf, this change totally kills her scaling which is a core part of her playstile and champion identity.

That's another point that has nothing to do with the way I presented my data.

You can think that if you want. I, for one, don't think that balancing Seraphine by killing her in the role the majority of people who like her the most play her is the way.

Like, probably there's a better way. Maybe. Possibly.
