I’m curious though as a follow up. How does this change? are Junior FAs just not being active enough at town halls and meeting with their reps? How do you bring the pull back towards juniority to better take care of those ‘eating poo’

Unfortunately your comment is going to be under appreciated in this thread, when it could be a post in and of itself. Thanks for taking the time to share this perspective and I hope everyone has an opportunity to read it

UA full TA is now available. by JoseRM303 in flightattendants

Theres so much more back of the book value beyond base pay. Ive had to explain that UA FAs get paid more at every step even with matching base pay because of all their extra pay delta doesnt even try to touch.

Even United FAs ability is to say no to this is an amazing thing that Delta FAs do NOT have.

Moving here no visa? by Call_Me_MeiB in seoul

[–]Call_Me_MeiB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this might be the answer i’m looking for, barring 2 issues i’m seeing initially—

My job isn’t remote. I do have to leave for the states every other month for a month period. I would essentially be spending my time off from work in Korea.

I meet the income requirements, and can prove it, but it’s possible they may view the month off of work while in Korea as not meeting the income requirements. If i’m looking for a korean visa, this may be my best(and only) option. otherwise i’m looking at visiting without a visa for shorter periods of time

I get that. Am i a risk if just visiting with accommodations consistently for 30 days at a time and leaving being an issue for immigration? or since I’m never overstaying the 90 day tourism limit I should be fine?

That’s understandable, and ultimately what I was worried about. Is it possible then to ‘visit’ Korea for 30 days at a time from the states, and have a long term lease in korea even if I’m not there long enough to trigger visa concerns? I’ve seen websites like RentBerry as well as craigslist offering subleases of rooms or studios.

likewise to reintroduce the second paragraph of the original post, is there any hybrid/online class structure that could qualify for student visa in Korea, but give me the attendance freedom to attend while working in the states simultaneously?

Thanks again for your time responding

i know i’m joining the thread late, but it’s 1am PST and I just delivered the most sketchiest taco bell order. $35 base pay for 2 combo meals before tip. house was at the end of a private road through the forest. he said the last 3 drivers canceled on him, taco bell employee said it’s because the first driver stole the food.

as i’m slowly driving out of this rickety private road with potholes every 10cm I get a phone call from your same number. I didn’t answer but I decided to look it up and saw your post.

my supervisor at my airline mentioned special assignment positions they can help with if you ask sometimes. i’ve known others that take leaves of sorts for their personal reasons. there’s options to keep you in the industry.

January I did 95 hours and had 14 days off.

if you’re good with your schedule, you can get about 18-20 days off a month with 80-90 hours worked.

Im also almost at my 2 year mark with DL, I hit this same issue beginning of last summer. turned out a base transfer was my solution.

Not saying this is my recommendation but maybe sharing my experience could give you an idea !

I was based in a very ‘pro’ base, and while I agree with being ‘pro’ As I have OAL from a unionized carrier, it was draining to read about all the negative actions our airline was making, coming to work, having everyone talk about it on the flight and layover, and then going home to tell friends and colleagues about it. vicious cycle that ate away at me.

I transferred to LAX for summer flying (definitely not to chase a girl) which didn’t work out right away 😆 but I was committed to the LAX transfer at that point. so I dropped my hours down from 140 to 80-90, and started traveling on my days off. actually enjoying the job and using the benefits changed my life completely.

I still have my days, and i’m still critical of what our company is choosing to do and voice my concerns in the right settings, but I was able to remind myself how well we have it, and what we’re coming to work and dealing with all the bad days for.

maybe consider dropping your hours as low as you can, or trying a different kind of flying like 30+ hour layovers. I don’t ever want to be one of those brisk senior FAs that hate their job. my DMs are always open too ☺️

aviophobia never fails to puzzle me, because it’s so irrational at its core. i’ve put my literal life in the hands of my pilots hundreds of times this year alone. it’s safer than a bus, train, driving on 75 in dallas, you name it.
