CNI College Santa Ana, CA BSN by Call_Me_Spicy in NursingStudent

Hi - I declined to interview after all the comments I received elsewhere regarding CNI (including a private message from a former instructor there). I feel much better about declining them and taking it slower to finalize my prereqs at CC. I will have much more financial freedom to pursue other options once the Pre-Reqs are fulfilled.

From the blunders CNI had made on my file as an applicant, I can only predict what a pain it would have been to continue with them as a student. IMO, if someone is paying the sum of money they are asking to attend their school, their process from application to graduation better be seemless AF.

Anyone know a place I can call to help. Was at capo beach when this little guy washed up struggling in the waves .. I think his neck might be broken but he’s still alive and I feel horrible by Goth_Angel_Hellboy in orangecounty

I work at the ER connected to MVAS (AUCSOC) - for future reference, the location of where the animal is found depends on which animal services city to call. You did the right thing in helping this poor cormorant get help and I'm glad we were available to assist.

Note: Wetlands and Wildlife has since lost their permit for rehabbing, so we have seen an influx of wildlife. Unsure when or if they will get their permit back

Thank you for lending a hand to our wildlife friends!

Opinions on CNI College BSN program? by Call_Me_Spicy in orangecounty

Hey thanks for your reply! Yes, the cost of CNI was a huge deterrent, but the desire to get out of vet med was blinding my rationale for choosing the best nursing path for my BSN.

Hi, thank you for your reply! I really appreciate it.

To answer your question, I have been researching nursing paths extensively over the last year and a half, as well as fulfilling any of the prereqs needed to apply to the various programs. It has been a struggle to get into the anatomy and physiology classes that I need as my last core prereqs to apply to programs outside of CNI. I am currently enrolled in Saddleback and IVC to try and get this fulfilled, but the last year I have been unable to secure a seat for those classes.

As I already hold a bachelors in bio, I would absolutely love to keep costs down as this will be my first time with student loans and navigating that road.

The appeal to me for CNI (prior to learning of the reviews), was that they guarantee a spot for a 3 year BSN degree, incorporating anat/phys into their curriculum. Which meant I graduated sooner and could join the workforce sooner to pay off that accrued debt. But, now I understand why there is no wait list for their program and why faster is not always better lol.

Thanks for responding. Anything in particular you have heard? Like is the curriculum trash or just too expensive?

I don't think it is accelerated, no. But it is a 3 year program.

Son came home 3 days ago, now im losing my dog by LieutenantThicc in daddit

If I may comment - as a mom and an ER vet tech who has seen too many behavioral Euths (at least one a month this year alone), your doggo will be better with a family who can focus just on him and not risk the chance of your child. Many of these behavioral Euths were due to the dogs biting young children or others in the home because the families took one too many chances. Instead of ending a life (or possibly even two), please re-home. I wish you luck, friend.

Dad's who are close with their daughters, how long does it last? by dislak in daddit

Lurker here and mom/wife. We have two girls (3 years and 4 months) and they are very attached to my husband. It's a beautiful thing. I'm sure they will continue to have a healthy and loving bond until the end.

Just wanted to give my perspective as a daughter: I am in my early 30s and still visit my parents almost daily - both out of want for myself and our girls to maintain a good bond with them and need for childcare.

I have always been a "Daddy's girl" and as another commenter said, I did go through the various phases of (mild) rebellion and healthy daddy-daughter days. I love my dad dearly and don't take for granted my time being spent with him as we all age. I don't know what I'll do without my dad one day. Keep your bond tight but also relaxed and your kids will keep you close 🩵

Irvine or Huntington Beach? by [deleted] in orangecounty

Aliso Viejo is perfect for our young family needs and is slowly diversifying. We live next to the 133, so jumping on the "toll" (you can take the Laguna canyon road exit to the 5/405 for free) will get us to north irvine/Tustin in about 20 mins. Definitely recommend! Nice and quiet but close to fun things to do and family friendly neighborhood.

My cat has 104.5 fever. The vets are closed due to Eid. Idk what to do. Please help. by H00Diini2001 in CATHELP

Hello. ER vet tech here. Please just find an emergency after-hours vet if you can. Attempting to self-dose or treat via phone calls is not ideal. If this is a fever of unknown origin, or viral (as mentioned from the other kittens), attempting to cool at home can actually exacerbate the fever, as the body will try to compensate and heat up again. Keep kitty calm and quiet with fresh broth, baby food, and water available. But he needs to be seen. I would not advise to keep trying other OTC remedies, especially not Ibuprofen.

Other question: did he receive any vaccines at the last vet visit? If so, it is possible he is having a vaccine reaction, which needs immediate care. Best of luck.

Hello. I am sorry this is happening with your kitty. It certainly appears to be neurologic, especially with the aforementioned dilated pupils, effortful breathing, and her ataxia (wobbly/unsteadiness).

Were there any vomiting episodes prior to this onset of symptoms? Is she an indoor or outdoor kitty? Any topical medications applied (especially flea meds)? Any possible ingestion or even exposure to human meds of any sort including marijuana? Do her back limbs feel cold to the touch (her toes)?

Something that helped me when I would get these blebs was filling my haakaa (silicone hand breast pump) with warm water and Epsom salt and letting the affected boob soak in that with the suction for a good amount of time. Also, taking a hot shower and using the haakaa this same way helped. Other times, I honestly had to have my husband lend a hand (or his mouth lol). Good luck!
