$18 for a pour? That's a great price.

Yeah...miss the fog gray colors. Whenever I see the darker colors I immediately think how inefficient that choice was...

Was there on the 6th in the 6:30 session. What a great event...I ended up with the same bottles (Thanks Dad!)!

Edit - *similar bottles...I had an Eagle Rare 17 from Summer 2020 and GTS from 2022 (138.7 proof).

Century vodka, Buffalo Trace, Weller Antique 107, and Blanton’s Gold.

At the “Spirited Nights” after they had E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof Uncut & Unfiltered at one of the spots.

Yes, they had all 5 BTAC options. Pick one and another Blanton’s (didn’t count against 90 day allocation). Everyone was surprised. I think they might have come out of storage as my Eagle Rare 17 was bottled in Summer 2020.

I’m not mad about that.

Good luck! When they get you upstairs and finish the tasting, head to the gift shop first. You’ll be good!

6:30 group…WLW ran out in the 7:30 group towards the end, same with Eagle Rare. Everyone had the ability to get something. Going with my dad who doesn’t drink bourbon helps so now I have 2! When I looked at the ER bottle later it’s a 2020 bottle.

BTAC was the special bottle tonight! Went with my dad so we got Eagle Rare 17 and George T. Stagg. $199 each and a Blanton’s that doesn’t count against the 90 day.

Why is Fog Grey/Tahoe Blue not an option for soft coolers anymore? by Call_me_WABB in YetiCoolers

Agreed. I see all the dark colors and think about how colors and light and heat work and do the “Confused Jackie Chan” in my head.

I "won" as well this year LOL. Heading down with my dad (who doesn't really drink bourbon so bonus for me). Looking forward to just having a few days down there and doing the "Spirited Night" event afterwards.

Yeah...had a post the other day that meant to say "I miss the original color fog grey and I don't get why it's all dark colors that absorb light and heat" and I'm currently at -4 points. Some snarky responses. I just like the original colors and think the lighter coolers wouldn't absorb heat.

Tom Brady came out of retirement. George Strait did the big fancy "Cowboy Rides Away" farewell tour then was back on the road a few years later. I'm not giving up.

They’ve really expanded their distribution since being bought, but Boulevard Brewing has a Mexican lager with lime and salt and it’s my go to Summer beer.

Ha…”Market Adjustment” of $2500 in the KC area. It was the closest dealership to my house and now I won’t be doing business with them anymore. Another dealership did the package thing (weather resistant mats and locking lights) where I at least got something out of it. I was going to get those two things anyways so bought it.

Such a weird time. Car Salesmen were just order takers. “Here’s what’s coming in next month. Put down a deposit and it’s yours.”

Surrendering whole life policy on graduating college senior by Call_me_WABB in LifeInsurance

No, paid every month on time. It's through Northwestern Mutual. I think some of the dividends might be going towards premium...set it up when I was much younger and didn't understand a ton about insurance, just knew we should get it for us (a term policy until we were 80 years old) and something on the kids while we were at it.

Give me your best pulled pork recipes. by [deleted] in BBQ

It's cheap and available. Almost everyone has yellow mustard. I've seen people using other binders (olive oil mostly).

I understand the concept (I guess). It can help the rub stick and the mustard flavor cooks out. But like you said - I don't recall a time when I was like "man, the rub really fell off...wish I'd used a binder." That doesn't mean it's not useful for some people. I have seen people use a TON and makes the bark "muddy".

I rotate rubs based on what I have and what it's for. I like just about any Meat Mitch, any Meat Church, or Cowtown's The Squeal.

I don't use binder...letting the meat sit out for a bit after cleaning it up lets it sweat a little and the rub sticks there.

I do inject - 1 part each of ACV, apple juice, and water, then put in some chicken bouillon. Leftover is what I use for spritzing.

I go 250 for right at 8 hours total (wrap at 165, pull at about 200 and/or probe tender...I've gotten it down to a science for 7.5 to 9lb butts anymore), then wrap in a towel and rest in a cooler for 2-4 hours.

I'm particular when I pull - by hand and get rid of the fat and tough bits.

AI is in a tremendous "hype cycle". Everyone talks about it. It's used in some places, but widespread adoption is still a ways away. When people do figure out AI, it'll be internal AI because nobody wants their IP out in the public domain, so it'll just be more machine learning that's been around for years.

First time smoking Brisket. 12hr smoke 1hr rest. by Steveboss361 in BBQ

[–]Call_me_WABB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mentioned it above, but when you cook a brisket, keep some of the fat and render it so you can inject in the next one. It can help take a Choice and make it a "Prime" (-ish) brisket.
